Thread: Reliance NetConnect GSM Review

I was using Vodafone as my GPRS/PC Connect for backup but last week i bought new RIM Prepaid GSM and activated RS99 pack which gives 2.5 GB data for 30 days,i'm using my Nokia 6630 Edge enabled phone via data cable and here are the results


connecting via nokia one touch access




speed on public torrent touches 140kbps easily with port forwarding



Direct HTTP DL SPEED



speedtest.net test (tested it in peak hour to see real colors)
though ping is high but for checking mails, using Facebook&Orkut is just a breeze!




latency is bit high but its not worse either and there is no packet loss in connection whatsoever!!




at just Rs 3 a day i can use 83 MB on my Notebook what more you expect from a EDGE connection? Reliance GPRS on EDGE enabled phone simply rocks.

bottom line i've dumped Vodafone GPRS!!

Reliance gsm is better at your place,, elsewhere it is poor...

atleast i can tell you of about 4-5 major places where i have used it...

Nainital, Bareilly, Varanasi, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hardwar
and there are many places to add.. (I am talking of only north indian places.. i havent still tried at south or any other part of India)

dude i've tested my netconnect in whole Delhi(mostly in South & West) including Ncr areas like Gurgaon and Noida! and performance is even everywhere, even on NH-8 highway speed was 100kbps! what more you expect from a cheap EDGE connection?


your handset needs to be EDGE capable only then you can extract speed from their network, using cheap or Chinese phones will bring crap speed.

You mean i dont have an edge phone???

I have a 2600c, and a 3110c, and a 7210, N72 ofcourse, Samsung Marine b2100, i also have Samsung L700 phone which has 3G, i also have Nokia 3500c, Nokia 2700c, and also three cheap chinese phones as you said... but i never used them for any purpose like internet..

Now dont say that those branded phones above have problems...

if you cannot trust me, i can send you thousands of photos of my phones...only if you want..

i am also on netconnect but not the gsm one.. its cdma...

revert from using egoistic comments,,i have used it in Gurgaon, ok and what about Varanasi, and bareilly?? dont say reliance not there ..

when i am saying slow, it means a typical network failure with speeds of 20kbps(not to confuse with KBPS) and what do you expect from reliance?? they are bunch of money looters..
i cannot go off reliance cdma because its my Papa's postpaid connection and he is not willing to unsubscribe from it, due to unknown reasons.. so i have to use it anyway...

maybe cause he has this phone connection(and the same number from last 6 years0 so maybe...
and also Reliance karlo duniya mutthi mein.. they take your money your cash, and even the trust of innocent people who are first time users, just like my Father.. and so on..

listen, i'm not alleging you that you don't have an EDGE phone, i have posted that remark to tell those who use this on non-edge phones thus no need to get agitated ok, if you are getting 20kbps and i'm getting 140kbps then its not my fault nor i have any soft corner for Reliance i just used it and posted a small review if that thing haven't worked for you that doesn't means it wont work for anybody.

I hate to say this as I am a MTNL customes(But MTNL 3G beats all yipee)

Voda is even more poorer, says me and my brother residing at Bangalore and he is a postpaid subscriber..

Using Vodafone as PC connect with mobile wap will drill a huge hole in your pocket because they charge rs199 as rental + data charges extra which are 10 paisa/10kb.

wow even Vodafone is failed to impress you but in reality their GPRS network is far less congested than Reliance and they provide better speed in peak hours whereas in Reliance Gprs you will face sluggishness when used in peak hours.

wow u guys use gprs for net usage on pc and cdma for voice..in my case its just the opposite in my case....rcdma for data and gsm is gud to go for vioce.....rcdma sucks on voice......

its not about impressing..

you can talk to my brother.. and he will tell you better...

except that i am not impressed of voda,(which you cannot believe at all) i want to tell you how fairly is Voda charging guys on gprs..

its costly.. i am happy that i am not using it..

Indeed Vodafone GPRS is darn pricey but i can vouch for it.

i haven't used BSNL because its not available in New Delhi, used Airtel 2 years ago(only in wap not in PC and they provide good speeds all day long but price is not pocket friendly) and due to some reasons i switched to Vodafone


DON'T EVER USE AIRCEL GPRS THEY PROVIDE MOST WORST GPRS YOU CAN IMAGINE DUE TO THEIR UL PLANS THEIR NETWORK IS F**** UP ALL THE TIME NEVER EVER OPT FOR AIRCEL.

dude voice Clarity in CDMA is far more clear and crisp than GSM i've tested my self by connecting my studio monitor Sony headphones in both GSM and CDMA mobiles,hissing is low in CDMA.

i didnt find anything like cleared voice quality n all...but still i m in love with airtel ..atleast i get the network congestion free and calls reaching even in peak hrs ....my home has rcdma which i rather find tough to reach as the voice says "THE NETWORK YOU R TRYING TO REACH IS BUSY .PLZ TRY LATER"

n tht too my home is in metro city....so my experience is rather worst with cdma on voice.

I use Reliance GSM only for their Net-connect i rarely use it for calls because i use Vodafone as my primary no.

I find no technological basis for the belief that CDMA has better voice clarity. My personal experience has also been the same. CDMA network in fact degrades call quality with increasing network load. If you think voice clarity on your GSM phone is not as good, then either it is an issue with your handset or with that specific GSM service provider.
