Default tried it

i tried this reliance netconnect broadband+ thing yesterday and i was really really blown away by the speed. it's rrrrrreally fast. i did a speedtest and the down speed was around 450kbits/ps and the upload was around 250kbits/ps with a fairly crappy ping time of 159ms. But still, in real world usage terms, it was rrrrrrrrrealy fast.

the only problem is that there is no really reasonable unlimited plan. 299 per month with no free usage and rs. 2 mer mb ... or 1099 for the "unltd" plan with 10gb limt...

for tariffs and coverage info visit this Reliance Netconnect

just 10 gb a month means just 341MB a day and they priced it at 1099+138tax=rs 1237 completely burning hole in pocket, this is only good for browsing and checking email.

NOTE : Tests done in Speed Test.net

I have been using it for the past week .... I have nt seen the download window for a while now

its so fast when you download 10-30 mb files your download window becomes just a pop up ....

Also tested the same on my visit to a rural village ... gave me a 1.x MBPS speed highest ever seen in that area ( for both wired and wireless)

I am using the USB modem for my desktop and notebook

WHY RELIANCE EVDO is better than BSNL

1)BSNL EVDO uses Base Tower signals ... so connection only in places where they have Base stations built
2)signal reception is poor
3)its 2mbps
4)does nt work in places without base station

Reliance BB+

1)Uses Satellite signals ..... widest coverage , 35 cities + some villages
2) Great reception .... first time i get to use a 3 MBPS wireless connection !
3) 3.1 Mbps .... u get that speed in cities ...
4) Places where there is no coverage ( interior villages) it can switch over to mobile signal reception i.e 1X connection .... Internet everywhere !

Nation wide roaming , no plan changes or roaming costs... thats another reason why reliance is better than BSNL !

This is a hybrid technology using satellite signals ...... it can switch mobile signals where there are no satellite signals ......

Minimum speed

Cities - 2.x Mbps
Outskirts of cities and villages - 1.x Mbps
interior villages - 200kbps [mobile 1x connection]
No disconnection

The Reliance Netconnect BB+ is mainly for those who are frequently moving around the country (its 100% roaming at no extra cost) and are aften forced to pay handsomely to the hotels to gain access to their WiFi networks and access the Net.
Thats wrong, mobile signals only for 1x connections like TATA Indiacom surf to whiz .. BB+ is a new tech and so is Evado...... Reliance BB+ is better than my BSNL 2MBPS wired that i use at my work place (my experience)

2.5GB 800rs/month

planning to have night 10GB add on pack for additional 200rs from next month (when it becomes available)

Ways to use it (USB modem)

Plug your Huawei USB modem into your USB port

A installation wizard opens up (client software built in, even though they give it to you separately in a cd as a backup)

Press Next Next Next etc and it installs

It automatically detects your user name and password , just press connect ! and enjoy

Reliance BB+ is NOT based on Satelite signals.
BSNL EVDO & TATA Indicom Photon uses EVDO.Rev.0 while Reliance uses EVDO.Rev.A. Both are linked to mobile base towers (BTS) and function on the 800 Mhz frequency on the CDMA system. There is no involvement of Satelite. [Presently only VSAT based internet service uses Satelites.]
If u don't believe me try taking your data card to a place where Reliance CDMA mobile does not work. Your data would also not work.

The difference in speeds are the inherrent differences of EVDO.Rev.0 (older technology) & EVDO.Rev.A (newer technology)
EVDO.Rev.0 has a maximum speed of 2.4 mbps (downlink) and 144 kbps (uplink) whereas EVDO.Rev.A has a maximum speed of 3.1 mbps (downlink) and 1.8 mbps (uplink).

BSNL uses LL numbering plan for its CDMA (tarang) service which limits access to the SDCA so BSNL EVDO can not provide roaming whereas Reliance uses Mobile numbering plan for its CDMA (RIM) service which enables full roaming so Reliance EVDO can give full roaming.

The Data Card of Reliance works on CDMA EVDO & CDMA 1x so in cities where EVDO is not supported it falls back to the CDMA 1x service.

What is EVDO?

ok so that (Reliance) sales guy had no idea what he was talking about

it seems Evdo is a 3G service and not based on satellite signals

and also BSNl have not upgraded their base station infrastructure in many cities so they are unable to provide Evdo in many areas , which is one of the reasons i dint get BSNL evado , even though i was looking out for a mobile BB

But my tests did show that Reliance has better coverage and speeds

that's gr8 u get below 250ms, basically its an ip of voip(pc to phone) server located in Germany to make good quality calls then ur ping time must below 250ms, on wired dsl i get 161ms so latency on wire free is damn good, reliance network just rocks.

Default never never never buy Reliance ......

[QUOTE=dakshi.me;129365]Reliance is introducing their broadband + service. I found this info on other forums said to be 20 times faster than ordinary usb modem with the speed of 3.1 mbps!! i think its EVDO based high speed data card, and I am gonna have one for my lappie... can anybody help me with the more details coz i am unable to find their website...[/QUOside TE]

The service is ok. but the the reliance group as usual failing in terms of ethics have cheated me. So be aware !!! The i took this so called unlimited plane with max limit of 10 Gb. They calculated the bill in such a way that it came around 3300 RS for a month.I took the plan on 29 on Mar but without informing me they made 7 Apr as my billing date and calculated the bill on a pro-data basis which means i was given on 3GB for 9 days which i was not aware of and they charged 2 Rs per extra MB.........At the same time i am checking the data usage ....i am finding it to be all extrapolated usage they are showing.......skype claims to be "30 Hours of video chat with web cams on both will be taking less or more than 1.5GB " But when i am checking the data usage on daily basis i am finding it to be an extrapolated data..........................So i would never never never buy Reliance ......

Give me 16 gbps and I still will not be satified. The 3.1 mbps is good but unless there are two options, I refuse to sign up:

a) I want 3.1 gbps unlimited usage and no download caps/FUP crap, etc. (dream come true)
b) OK. Give me 3.1 mbps, put a download cap but give me an option of night time free, at no extra charge (decide your own night time). And once again no FUP crap.

But for guys like me ..... who need uninterrupted connections 24*7 this is just a boon ......

1) i never get disconnections
2) national roaming free of cost
3) first time i am actually seeing a (average of) 2mbps connection ( its 3 mbps ofcourse)
i have BSNL 2mbps in my office ...... but i never ever seen it go beyond 1.5mbps .... and averages around 1mbps during daytime . Biggest problem would be the non existent customer care and technicians who rarely ever turn up if there is a disconnection . No such problem in reliance BB+
4) Plug and play ! .... u can set up the connection on a new computer under 1 minute ! dialer software inbuilt inside the modem

my only bitch would be the fair usage policy

if they remove that .... this would become " The Best connection "
