Default A proud owner of the powerful Reliance netconnect broadband plus

On Friday I booked my own Reliance netconnect broadband plus online, paid via ICICI bank transfer. And today at 11.00 I received the delivery of kit. First of all I am very happy that I got it within 2 days of booking, meanwhile on Saturday I got the confirmation call from their customer care.

At the time of delivery reliance guy will ask you to fill up a form where you have to mention the plan details, now this form is sent to their office and within 48 hours your plan will get activated, till than I have to wait, but I will share some images with you ppl.

First of all it comes with an international style DVD packing with seal. Insights there are 4 main components
    1) The USB data card
    2) Installation guide and CD
    3) USB extension and
    4) Warranty card

First time you have to install the device (very easy installation process hardly takes 5 mins) and next time it is plug and play. Now first thing you have to do after installation is launch Reliance netconnect broadband plus dialer, here you have to click on activate button (Reliance will be default profile) in activation process follow a voice instructions i.e. press 1 for hindi press 2 for English etc..

As I told you earlier my connection is not yet activated, so cant share user experience. But till now everything goes smoothly and I can’t wait to test the speed and other features with you…. Will share everything soon.. tc

In Chennai i get an average speed of around 2mbps

currently i am using the 2.5GB (No night unlimited) 850rs plan

i will be putting the 10GB night add on pack from next month (when it becomes available)

it has a windows xp and Mac dialer client .... it can be made to work on linux without a dialer ..... i own the USB modem not the data card

As of now this has received a lot of + reviews ... so lets see

My fren is using netconnect and unfortunately I wont agree about it giving a satisfactory service and speed. I get hopelessly stuck in between file tranfers even if its a small image or listening to a youtube link. The speed is not stable keeps on changing. Personally using it I will prefer never to use it till they sort out their so called speed issues.

Hold your horses now .......... i thought you said your friend was using it ?

This further adds to my suspicion . A 10mb file takes less than 5 seconds to download on the slowest day . But a small image ?? .... i hope you know the difference between kbps ad mbps .
An image however big takes less than a second to be downloaded . How can u get stuck ?
The speed is not stable keeps on changing.
Show me one isp who gives consistent speeds in india and i will worship you .

PS. My fren stays nextdoor and whenever i am at her place i use her hsd for logging in and all. And i do use reliance hsd provided by my company. do u need many more of ur doubts to be cleares?

Just a minute , let me fill in this search warrant

Evdo theoretically gives you 3.1Mbps .. but practically u ll get much lesser .

So it is not possible for ANY isp to give 3.1Mbps with Evdo ...... for marketing reasons obviously Evdo companies have stuck with the 3.1 mbps spec

Well anyways pls point out 1 single ISp in india wired/wireless who give exactly the same speed they advertise ?

Can you explain this ? You were downloading a small image .... 300 kb max (since its small) ......... and you got stuck in between which would mean it took a long time to download .... with a 3.1mbps connection ? .......... now thats strange

I just dont want other ppl reading this thread to get a wrong impression about the isp we are discussing ... because i am a very satisfied customer of the same

No wonder I expected such criticism from Anti-Relaince fans. Always they go whine about TATA and BSNL who aren't actually front-runners here. Something ought to be done about these peoples.:33:Trust me, every ISP's has thier own good's and bad's. I have been using Reliance Netconnect USB modem for about 3 months now. I don't have any issues with the bill nor any complaints regarding the speed. The speed is very reasonable. Theoretically, my maximum download link speed is 387.5 KB\s. Reliance promised me only a download link of speed over 2.4Mb/s for some reason. But when I took few bandwidth tests I was awestruck it was over 2.8Mb/s. I usually download contents at an average speed of 310-340 KB\s - that's when I realized that Reliance delivering me more than it promised. :14:In Reliance it takes 40-45 mins to download the same 700 MB file. In many worst cases it "only" takes 15 mins more - which isn't actually a big issue.

But using Reliance Net Connect off the city limits can reasonably reduce the speed by 20% or so - which I found it lately. "It acctually depends on where are you at." I am from Coimbatore and I always get maximum coverage.

Yes, I have used TATA the speed was good but not good as in Reliance - the problem with TATA was that every month I got my bills at a staggering rate of Rs.3500.sama: Although I haven't done anything much to reach that rates. I knew, if I am going to produce bills at these rates I am sure my parents would go bankrupt at one point which is why I withdrew TATA services for all the good reasons.

You have made a wise choice for which you will never regret.

I got a speed of 1.x mbps in suburban Coimbatore ... Kovai Pudhur area to be specific .... Even wired ISPs (2mbps) cant provide such speeds in that area and ISPs like Airtel dont operate in that area .whats more that area is not present in Reliance's coverage map !

Default Achieve Zero Speed With Reliance Netconnect

I see that most posts are comparing or complaining about the speed of the connection. Well! Here's the latest I have achieved a speed of zero with Reliance Netconnect. I bought a new connection - it worked for 2 days and then without notice they just suspended my services due to some address verification crap. They completed that process the next day...but since the past two days mighty Reliance has not been able to re-activate my service because one of their tiny fanchisees, basically 1 person, is enjoying his weekend and has not updated them. Are we customers of Reliance or the franchisee? I am ready to throw the piece of garbage they've provided to connect to the internet. My advice to all considering buying Reliance broadband - DON'T!

    Default (UN)Reliance Netconnect

Extremely Poor Customer Service and Un-Reliable Broadband services offered by Reliance Communications, has been my experience so far in the past 3 weeks.

Here's a summary of the bad experience and Poor customer service that I have been having on-going with Reliance Broadband Netconnect services and also the supporting E-CARE team:

I am part of a Marketing Technology division of a US based Fortune 50 Multi-national Telecom company. I have been in Mumbai on personal as well as business commitments for the past few weeks.

There was a Documentation issue with my pre-paid Reliance NetConnect account(originally purchased & activated for Rs4000 in Oct 2009). I submitted the documentation on March 2nd 2010 to Reliance WebWorld in thane.

After repeated visits to Reliance WebWorld and after numerous calls with E-CARE, my account suspension was finally removed after 8 days of submitting ALL the required documentation.

Thereafter, my account got suspended again on March 16th evening. After repeated calls with E-CARE and speaking to the Floor Supervisor, I was told to contact Reliance WebWorld as ECARE was UNABLE to help. Magically however, my account was re-instated around mid-night March 16th after being on the call with ECARE for about 1 hour.

The Patchy/un-reliable service issues continued March 17th evening, when my account again got suspended from about 10.40pm.

On March 18th morning, I had repeated calls with ECARE reps, a few calls got disconnected while I was placed on HOLD. Finally I was told by 1 Ecare representative that there was no one in ECARE who could help me. The only people who could help me was Reliance Webworld in Thane who open their Franchise Store at around 10am.

I asked for a Floor Supervisor and a Floor Manager and was told no one was around and they would not be able to help too.

Finally, I visited the Reliance Webworld in Thane, and they resumed/restored the request. However, they too were NOT SURE why my account was having so many problems.

It is really surprising that a company such a Reliance Communications, has such an extremely Poor & dysfunctional Process in dealing with Business customers as well as Consumers.

It took me numerous calls and dropped calls from ECARE and visits to Reliance Franchise store to maintain my Broadband connection. I paid about 6000 in all for the broadband and the data package.

I am not sure if Tata Photon has similar issues but with these kinds of issue with Reliance Netconnect, I would think Tata Photon may be a better option for me.

One other thing to keep in mind if you are in the market for a wireless broadband prepaid service, is that Reliance does not have any options to cancel or return the data card/package.

Essentially, they take your money and run. They dont care about customer service.

Their ECARE is a bunch of kids who are reading the computer screen and seem to have no knowledge or Power to do anything EXCEPT wait for the Franchise store to make any service changes including restoration of service

Also, if you are a multi-national professional or executive , SORRY, Reliance does not work after 8pm India time, so essentially IF your service is suspended or Disconnected, SORRY , RELIANCE HAS NO WAY TO HELP YOU.

Not a Good image & Customer service from a top Indian Company

Thumbs down Horror stories with Reliance Netconnect

To all the folks speaking of bad experience with Reliance's customer service and Reliance Netconnect datacard, I can totally add my own. I have had horrible experience with them during one of my India visits, and the sad part is that even my aged parents had to bear the brunt of it for some time.

You can read my horror story here: http: slash slash bit dot ly slash aT3meG
with the follow-up details here: http://bit.ly/b2tgUM

I would NEVER recommend Reliance to anyone!

I have a reliance netconnect 1.x and I "Never",repeat"NEVER" will recommend it to anyone even if i am paid to do that.
I had gone to a place in Coorg for vacation. And just to check mails I took my laptop and REliance netconnect along
    and poof!!!!
    There was no network coverage
But thank god I brought my MTNL(BSNL over there)cellphone along.
I connected it to my laptop and the GPRS/EDGE was working flawlessly for days with a speed of 20kB/s or 160kb/s

I really enjoy saying this: RELIANCE are full of un-RELIANCE

Shadowcon :How is it that except you everyone is giving bad reviews
    Are you a reliance promoter?
