Angry Never ever go for Reliance NetConnect

Hi All, I had a really horrible experience with reliance netconnect and I thought I should share it somewhere. I am from Bangalore and had applied for a reliance netconnect 2 weeks back (4th June 2009) through their website. On the same day a person from reliance came to my office and took all my documents, verified the same and gave me the device after taking payment of Rs.3500 from me. This was a Thursday and he told the connection will be activated within 72 hrs. When my connection was still not updated by Monday (8th June), I called up the customer care. after providing my MDN number, the response was "Your details are not in our database yet. Contact the nearest webworld". On contacting the nearest webworld, they told me that since this connection was purchased from the net, and not through them, I have to contact the guy who gave me the connection. I called they guy up and he told me that everything is done and will take one extra day since there was a Sunday in between. But it was not activated again after 2 more days. On 10th June, when I called the guy up, he told everything is done and it should be working now. When I made it clear that it is not working, he agreed to check and call back. No call came back and when I called him up again, he told that the address proof I provided (a letter from my office) was not enough and he needs another one. I asked him why he didn't tell it while taking the documents and asked him to take back the connection and give me back my money. Then he told me that if I forward my rent agreement by fax, he will activate it within 1 hour. I decided to take one more chance, and did the same. But nothing happened and on next day when I called him he started evading my calls. I tried calling from my wife's number. Then he picked up. But when he came to know it was me, he disconnected and switched off his mobile.

When no action was taken for further few days, I sent a detailed complaint to reliance customer care and higher authorities in Bangalore on 15th June. But still there was no action and after another week, now on 22nd June nothing has happened.

Also in the mean tome, I tried to return the device at nearest webworld and get my money back. But they told that since it is not taken from there, they cannot give me my money back.

Much more than the fact that I have not received the connection, it is the terrible support they provide that makes me write this here. After paying 3500 rupees and doing all these, I still don't know why my connection was activated and no one is even ready to explain it to me.

Krishna, thats one typical Indian experience Reliance guys are giving you and unfortunately there is hardly anything one can do about these sick people. I had a hard time my reliance netconnect connection activated as well but fortunately I got it from the Reliance outlet here at Uttam nagar and some maa ki behen ki is all it took for them to activate it next day.

The moral of the story in my opinion is Only buy from a shop where you have a few collars to grab on to if there is an issue.. as unfortunately good or bad one has to buy products and services to survive.

I strongly suggest you should go to your nearest consumer court and file a complaint but before that you could try contacting Reliance customer service and thern Nodal officer.... send a few e-mails for starters.

Even one of my family member had similar experience with Reliance WiMax connection. It is terrible to deal these sick Reliance people. I would not used any of ADAG product during my lifetime after listening these horrendous experiences.

Above that they have problem with billing always. Even if you use 200 Mb data transfer they will show you 1 GB data transfer and will charge you accordingly. Beware of Reliance guys.

    Default some update

    Hi guys,

Thank u for all the responses and suggestions.

As admin suggested, I sent a mail to the nodal officer. But unfortunately there was no response to that also. Then I contacted a friend of mine and sent a semi-legal notice to the nodal officer and appellate authority in Bangalore. After that I got a call 2 days back saying they can activate the connection if i re submit the papers. I have been fed up with this entire thing and asked for a cancellation and refund upon this. They have agreed to cancel and refund the money by end of next week. But as always they haven't given me any complaint or reference number. So I am still not very sure.. anyway will keep u guys posted

    hi,

i also faced the same problem as krishna_27 when i bought my bb+ connection 3 days ago from a reliance webworld shop (nerul, navi mumbai). it seems that there is a mismatch between the RSN no. printed on the sticker on the box and the actual RSN no. printed on the modem itself which causes this problem.

in my case, the webworld guys activated my connection with the RSN no. on the box and it wouldnt connect at all.

the webworld guys at my place were very helpful and got it sorted after 3 days and ive just got my connection working today night around 9.

the webworld guy who attended me said that the latest batch of the black huawei 1260 modems has this rsn no. prob and that their shop got 5 complaints till now.

@ krishna_27, check if the rsn no. on the modem and box matches,if it doesnt, then you need to get your connection activated with the rsn thats printed on the modem.

to get to customer care, what i did was selecting the sales enquiries option on the 1800 helpline and shouting at the person there, who then transferred me to the tech assistance people (but they were of no use whatesoever, as they told me to take modem to a huawei service center)

    Default some more update

    Hi Guys,

got some more update on the stuff. Actually it is a company called Vriti which is a channel partner of reliance who is selling these data cards in the internet. And majority of the crap is happening when u purchase through them.

I had some more hassles and quite a few mail exchanges with reliance guys and finally yesterday (13/7/2009) evening i received a refund cheque from Vriti. But now the issue is slightly different. Around 1 hour after I got the cheque someone called me from Vriti office in Noida asking me not to en cash the cheque. He told it will bounce even if I en cash since the cheque is blocked. He took my account details and promised that by end of day the money will be credited to my account. But till today nothing has happened and now no one is picking up the phone at Vriti.

I am planning to wait for 2 more days, then submit the cheque at my bank and in case of return of the cheque to take the matter legally.

    Exclamation Reliance netconnect Broadband+ Vriti

CHEATED BY VRITI INFOCOM IN RELIANCE NETCONNECT BROADBAND+

RELIANCE NETCONNECT BROADBAND+ DISAPPOINTS. VRITI & RELIANCE NOT WILLING TO HELP

    BEWARE OF VRITI

    MDN Number – 093245 82590

Guys, unfortunately I also fell prey to the offer by “connectindia.in/Reliance-Data-Card” (Vriti Infocom) which comes as the first link if you do a search for reliance broadband netconnect. I submitted my details on the net & in turn promptly got a call from Ghanashyam (9654181072) call centre in Noida.

Having agreed to subscribe, was referred to Dinesh (9920551022) a representative of Vriti in Mumbai. As agreed, a third guy Sameer (9870612868) came on 14/10/2009 and collected the form & cash of Rs 3500 from my residence at Wadala (East) – Bhakti park and promised that the connection would be activated on the same day.

After rigorous follow-ups with reliance and Sameer, I managed to get the connection activated the next day but was of no use as I was not able to connect to the broadband network. Most of the time I could not find the broadband network or whenever there was network I got technical or other errors. I could connect only twice to the broadband network in last 2 weeks and that too with a maximum speed of 40-50 kbps

Have been calling reliance helpline since then, but with no success. The calls to Vriti's persons went unanswered. Finally, I was told to visit web world to check for technical problems or to speak to network team for the network issues.

Now comes the interesting part - on my final call to the customer care on October 24, 2009, I was told that my subscription has been SUSPENDED and the reasons being CONFIDENTIAL cannot be told to me by the customer care and hence, was advised to visit the reliance web world to understand the reasons.

Though being in Reliance's web already, I went to the Reliance Web World at Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate to understand the reasons for suspension. After waiting for around 40 minutes for my turn to come, was told that even they are not aware of the reasons and "As a matter of Process" they need to write to the back office to understand the reasons, which obviously would require me to re-visit them after couple of days.
Arguments around this brought a senior person () in to picture who finally managed to drop the bomb on me - I was told that Reliance has a exclusive tie-up with somebody called Shweta Communications for certain areas including Wadala (East) – Bhakti park and hence, Vriti was not authorised in first place to sell data cards in Wadala (East) – Bhakti park and hence, my connection being unauthorised has been suspended.

Solution provided?? I was asked to go back to Vriti and return the data card, get my money back and apply afresh for a reliance data card with the web world (I assume that they were being sarcastic in expecting somebody to comeback to reliance again!)
Asked if they can help me anyways - answer was a firm NO. On insistence - was given a telephone number of a nodal officer, which no body answered
I requested the web world guys to register my complaint or give me in writing whatever they told me but they refused firmly. Their response was that they cannot help as it is not a problem at Reliance's end and I should go back to the vendor who sold me this card.

The response from Reliance was very disappointing. Vriti being a channel partner for Reliance, they can’t just wash their hands off the entire matter by simply returning the customer. More so when they have registered the connection initially and activated the services

I have been trying to contact the Vriti's team (Ghanashyam, Dinesh & Sameer) since then but with no avail. After dozens of failed calls, I wrote a stern message to the 3 guys, maybe which made Dinesh to answer my call. Response?? Ignoring his tone for the time being, he referred me to another guy called "Jay". On my refusal to speak to another guy & narrating the story all over again and on insistence on him speaking to 'Jay" directly or at the max we jointly speaking to Jay, the response which I got was “THATS IT!!" and the guy disconnected the phone. He did not answer any calls after that.

What should I do?? I am currently contemplating a criminal complaint with police of fraud & cheating against Vriti Infocom, Ghanashyam, Dinesh & Sameer. Further a complaint in consumer forum on Reliance Communications, Vriti Infocom, Ghanashyam, Dinesh & Sameer to seek full refund of Rs 3500, termination of the post paid connection and damages. Further, there is no network coverage of broadband at my address contrary to the claims made by Reliance, entitling me to full refund on account of their inability to provide me the agreed services. MDN Number – 093245 82590

Would request you guys to suggest some good lawyers who handle such matters or suggest some tips or alternative remedy which you might think is viable. Lawyers - please feel free to contact me.

    PS –

    1) I am ignoring currently the fact that I was given wrong information about the plans initially which led me to subscribe to the wrong plan. For this I managed to get a complaint registered with Reliance before suspension.
    2) I have not been given a goa trip offer which was promised at the time of sale
    3) Further, the broadband network in WADALA is pathetic and its not possible to connect to broadband anyways.

    Hi All,

Even I had the same experience with vriti, but due to some ideas I followed I was able to force them to activate my account.
I wanted to share this with you people so that u can also try the same against these fraudsters.
Since I had wanted a datacard, I was browsing through reliance site and came across an ad that Reliance data card + 2400 off + 5GB and unlimited usage + goa trip was offered. Since it was a good offer, I had registered for it. I got the call the next day from one guy from Noida. He specified that he is calling from Reliance office and told me that he ll send his rep to deliver the card. When asked if we can pay through cheque , he refused immediately with the reason that his office doesn’t accept cheques.
The rep named Syed immediately came to my home with the card(on 8th Nov 2011) and when we asked for receipt, he told he ll come and give it tomo. He then got 1000 in cash and 1523 throu online transaction (since we had refused to give full amount in cash). He had connected to a site called ccavenuedotcomcharge. Even though we had WOT software installed (which is a very good software)to find bad reputation sites, since this site was displayed in green(good to go sites) we were not very suspicious. I had got a mail from vriti after which only I came to knoe vriti is involved in this.
Before this mail was sent the rep had left our home. After which when I saw the mail we saw that vritidotcom is a bad reputed site. After we searched in google we read all you comments on how vriti is a fraud.
But thanks to all the comments on the experience form u guys,we came to know how these guys react if we call them again.
Even then whenever we called(which would have been some 30 times in one day), either the ypicked the call and told we will activate in 1 hour, half hour and all that crap answers or disconnected the call. I suspect only around 4 guys are there in that Noida office who call people for all these things. But each time that we called they were acting as if they are different people and asked for same info again and again just to irritate us.At one time after a guy cut my call and me calling him for 10 times (they dint pick the call but I called them continuously) the same guy received the call. When I asked him y he had cut the call, he replied sayin its wrong number and it is foodworld.indiadotcom. When I scolded him very badly for this he dint reply anything by kept telling it its foodworld.indiadotcom. After this call I came to a conclusion that this is not the way to get my card activated.
I called the rep who had given the card to me(on 10th Nov 2011) and spoke to him in a good way and lied to him that my friend who stays in my apartment liked the offer and wanted one connection for herself. This guy believed it and sent the another rep to mu house the next day. When the new rep name Ravi came (on 11th Nov 2011)we asked for the card and did not give it back unless he activated my card.
After this the real dram started. We and the rep started getting lot of calls on wat is happening. Everyone from their Bangalore office head to a guy who is head of their Noida office started talkin to us requesting us to leave the guy(they had not know about the second card that we had kept with us,they thout we are holding the guy and was frightened we wil call the police). After 2 hours of us talking to everyone and calling the customercare to confirm if our account is activated, it was done(on 11th Nov 2011). Since I had read in comments on customercourt that even after activation if our details are not uploaded to reliance the dealer can disable the account again. We made the rep wait till we had our account in reliance database and confirmed from the customer care that dealers are no more responsible for our account we were ready to let the guy go without the 2nd data card. In between we were able to hear the conversation that this guy had with the noida manager in phone. The Noida guy was asking him ‘how can you be so stupid to go to the same house again and fall for this. Cant u be more careful, now we have to do all this to get you out.’
These people are so much fraudsters that we also have to turn into one to get the things done.

    Important things to do:
So if ur in the same situation just go and register in the same place in some of ur friends phone number and make them come to ur place or ur friends, get the data card without payin money and start threatening them. But do please keep confirming with customer care that ur details had been sent to them and has been updated in their data base. Also confirm with them ur usage details because these vriti people can give wrong usage details to reliance. Immediately register in myservices.relianceada and see that ur details are displayed there. Then u can be sure that ur in reliance control now and not dependent on dealer(vriti). Also after 2 days check that u can see ur usage details as that promised by vriti. Then u can return the 2nd data card to those rep.
Hope this is helpful to u guys. I had tried to omit certain things so that its not too long, but had told all important things to deal with these guys.

^^ Thanks for posting your experience

Like I was saying in another thread (related to Airtel BB), there are certain bad apples that spoil the reputation of the parent organization.

    Default This is India not...

OK! Don't be misunderstood....wait read all this!
First thing you made mistake is that you order it online!
mind that this is India, face-to-face deals are not too good then how can you expect online!
The roads here are full of Potholes,,,,,,,i mean to intend you is This is india and you should do the thing by your own or by involving in yourself!

I am also a reliance netconnect+ (former name Broadband+)(though i am switching over to BSNL Wired broadband) i am bit satisfied with them. Cause i had already drag them to the police station about two or three times.

The key to deal with them is; If they are responding by speech ask for written...suppose they promise you to activate the connection withing 72 Hours....take a paper and have all the deal written along with declaration sign and stamp of the officer in bottom. If things again gone wrong just get them with the paper to somewhere nearest police station to you. Or you may remind them before you grab them to the police station(I have did this twice)..... This is very good idea until you belong to INDIA!

Cause this is India, and Indian's belongs here...

Default wE CaN'T RELY on Reliance

I Vivek Negi currently residing in P.No.114,Sri annamalai illam,Pallavamthiruagar,Melnallathur post,Thiruvalur(near chennai)-602002 bought reliance netconnect+ with high hopes of able to do fast browsing with downloading,i wanted it work, video chat, job search with ability to download movies. But nothing of that sort happened what happened is in chronological order:-
    21 FEB 2012
I bought the data card costing 1600.
    24 FEB
After going to retailer thrice with laptop and netconnect dongle he was able to activate it.
I was able to get HSD speed about 200-300 kbps for 5-10 days after which 1X speed was there rest of the month.Speed issue retailer told me was due to document under processing.
    22 APRIL 2012
I Recharged with 800Rs.and expected that speed issue would have been resolved but when i used it it was slower than ever with frequent intermittent stoppage at 0 kbps and max. speed of upto 70 kbps( i expected 3.1 Mbps this time as they say).
I contacted Customer care they told me you details have not been uploaded kindly ask reatiler to do so.
I contacted retailer he gave me service area manager's no. who asked me to come to his shop to resubmit documents.
He also checked the speed and agreed there is some technical problem. He promised within 2 days issue would be resolved.
    4 MARCH 2012
After daily calling Customer care People till dated they said documents not submitted we can't help.Service manager won't pick up calls, after calling 10-20 times daily he would pick and make an excuse and hang the phone.
On this day by an act of God device also broke.
    5 MARCH
I went Velachery 70 Kms away from home to repair the device. They told me to wait for 3 days,on fourth day they gave me repaired dongle for Rs.650 charge.CUST job ID:22551209.
    11 MARCH
Finally cust. care people told me details have been updated. They registered one complaint regarding NOT ABLE TO CONNECT IN HSD MODE complaint no-179064138.
They promised to resolve the issue within 24 hrs.
    12 MARCH
Customer care people told me the previous complaint was not right and again registered one complaint NO-UCS20095070.i aslo made one request to extend my 5 Gb fair cap limit because i haven't been able to connect in that mode and it was now about to over. REQUEST ID-UCS41971632.They promised to resolve by 14 march

    14 MARCH
Customer care people tells me again your registered complaint isn't correct and gave me another new complaint no-179135044.First person told me this will now take 4-5 days to get corrected. After that i talked with another person from Customer care he told me it will not take more than 12 hrs.

NOW I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHOM TO BELIEVE AND MORE THAN THAT I WONDER WHY THE COMPANY NAMED RELIANCE WHEN WE CANNOT RELY ON IT FOR SUCH SMALL MATTERS.I DON'T HOPE TO GET IT O.K STILL,AND EVEN IT DOES HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO USE IT SINCE MY MONTHLY VALIDITY IS ABOUT TO OVER AND 5 GB CAPACITY TOO.THREE OF MY FRIENDS HAVE ALREADY DISCARDED USING IT THEY SAVED THEMSELVES FROM THIS MUCH TROUBLE BUT I STUCK ON IT FOR NOTHING.
