Question Unlimited plans... but (10GB cap?) wtf?

Hi,

First things first, this site is awesome!, well maintained and helpful, saw many useful posts, keep up the good work
had a few things to ask, and posted my query here..

well i am planning to get a wireless broadband
I've narrowed it down to Reliance Netconnect Broadband+
well my problem is...

1. Does that 10GB cap apply to all plans? (even on Unlimited Citywide plan which is Rs 1099)

2.If the 10 GB cap is applicable, what are my other options? (BSNL EVDO?)

I have heard BSNL is going to launch a new product which would be better than both Netconnect Broadband+ and Photon +.... Any news on that front?

Thx in advance!! waiting for ur Reply!!

there is no unlimited plan in Reliance BB+.
its only 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, 5GB, 10GB or 15GB plans
options available in both prepaid and postpaid.

chek what type of fair usage policy it is, some policies states that they will cap your download speed to half if the downloaded data exceeded 10GB or whatever be the limit....google it on TRAI Website......before u buy it

Well thx a bunch for all ur replies guys,
Repped ya all

Well i hav been thinkin abt this stuff, hmm so isn't reliance literally fooling its customers base?,
i think its deeply concerning, the fact that they are using the term "unlimited" so loosely, to the extent that the not so tech savvy ppl, like my sis would be easily ripped off of her money (she watched the netconnect ad is going gaga to get one)

I'm an average Internet user like everyone, but i do download stuff quite often, the problem is with such a fast connection, its easy for one to lose trackof the amount of stuff we download, so i dont see the point of having such a fast connection with a so called "Unlimited" plan which is capped.

I'm seriously considering not to go for netconnect broadband +,
and look into this BSNL EVDO, at least i could rent it and see if it works out for me, rather than spending 4k plus and on something which is inevitably going to come back and bite me in the a**

I would urge the Admin to take up this matter, may be make a seperate thread, and get the word out, coz many ppl i know who are willing to switch from traditional wired BB for this, dont hav a clue abt the cap limit. Personally i dont mind paying some extra to get a real unlimited connection,

Regards

All private ISPs formed some kind of cartel some time back and have implemented Fair Usage Policy for all their plans regardless of whether they are wired or wireless ....

They implement it in different ways Airtel halfs your bandwidth ,while sify has some kind of timeout feature while Reliance and TATA indicom have implemented Data caps .....

Fair Usage applies to a lot of connections irrespective of ISP plan ... Only exception being Govt's BSNL which does not implement FUP in any of its connections

yeah you are right its because the government has implemented the fair usage policy to curb piracy related issues... so currently all wireless broadband services (reliance, tata , bsnl ) offer a limited usage according to the plan available with the service provider... but considering the coverage and speed i would advise reliance broadband plus... dont go in for bsnl.. (govt. company and lot of service issues )... earlier i had used tata photon but didnt get good coverage .. so opted for reliance .. experience has been good till now..

It actually has another 20GB plan for RS. 1298 but it is a citywide plan and it does enough justice to me.
