Default Problem in Vista and poor grievance redressal by Reliance

    Dear friends,
I will post a letter I had send to Reliance on 10 July 2009. There has been no written replay so far.
The local reliance store person says that I should pay rental for 2 months for them to proceed. I had told them to terminate the service within 10 days of purchasing the datacard as it was not working. He said that reliance would waive the rental as he would report that it was not working.

Hope some reliance PRO personnel helps me out.

    Regards,
    Dr. Mohan Raj

    Dear Sir,

Sub: 1. Surrender of Reliance Net connect USB modem which is not working and claiming refund of Rs.3500/- (RSN RHWCD 5210155749)
    2. Requesting waiver of rental as the data card could not be used.
    (MDN 93802 43307)

I had purchased a Reliance Net connect Broadband+ USB modem (Huawei) from Reliance Communication, Nachus communications, L.B.Road on 29 May 2009 FOR Rs.3,500 (Invoice number 5245). I had chosen Reliance modem as I have been using a Reliance mobile phone since its inception and I like the service.

For the first one week, we could connect to the internet only after several attempts. The laptop would not recognize the USB modem most of the time. We had reinstalled the software as advised by the helpline but still it did not help. We have two laptops, one a Compaq and one a HCL leaptop, with Vista as OS for both.

From mid June, the USB modem could not be used at all. The USB modem was not recognized by both the laptops. It can be verified by looking at our usage data at Rcom website.

By mid June, I contacted your showroom and reported the problem and said that I wanted to surrender the USB modem and cancel my account. Mr. Nehru had asked me to hold on for some time and assured me that he would sort out the issue for me. Since then, one technician has checked the USB modem and our laptop in the showroom and then the USB modem was send for service from 16 June 2009 to 02 July 2009. Though Mr. Nehru had assured that the modem would be replaced, I received the same piece.

Even after it is received from service the USB modem is still not recognized by our laptops. I have a cable broadband with unlimited internet for our desktop. I purchased the USB modem only for the use in the laptop when I am outside the house. As the data card is not useful in both our laptops, I want to surrender the USB modem and request for a refund of Rs. 3500.

I also request you to waive the rental amount as we have not been able to use the internet service. You had assured this earlier when I reported the problem in mid June.

I am not claiming any amount for mental agony though the agony and frustration was very high. I don’t want to elaborate the troubles I underwent in trying to make the USB modem work as the mail would be very long.

I am willing to clarify any doubts that you may have.

Looking forward to a favourable response from you.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Dr. S. Mohan Raj,
    10 July 2009.
