Default Problem with Downloading speed compared to Tata Wimax

    Hi All

This is Aditya from Hyderabad. I have Reliance Wimax installed on 08 Dec 08. On the same day my friend had Tata Wimax. I am on 400kbps u/l and he is on 256kbps u/l. I am having a reliance tower in my opposite building and my signal strength is excellent... around 26.
On the other side my friend stays in outskirts of Hyderabad. He 1.2 km far from his tower. And the signal strength is around 19-20.

    My Internet Experience

Login page loads fasts. Connects to internet immediately. Never faced any problem till now. Satisfied with my speed (average of 46kbps).
    Everything was going fine....

I wanted to check Tata Wimax. So i went to his house and started his pc.

    Tata Wimax Experience

Assining IP takes a lot of time
Login page take even more time
Browsing speeds sucks... has to refresh 2,3 times to load a page.
    And now the download speed.........

    UNBELIEVEALBE

    60-70-80-90.....

What is this? How he is getting that much speed?
If 256kbps gets that speed what should i get then?
    I am in 400kbps.

He downloaded a movie from rapidshare with premium account in front of me. All the seen parts... infront of me at an average of 70.

I am now thinking of switching to Tata Wimax to experience the difference.

    What do you guys say!

now the tata indicom thingie is what happens in idea n airtel cellphone internet where the airtel provides good surfing speed
n dwnld speed of 5-6 kbps
at the same time the idea provides dwnld upto 25 kbps at night
but browsing speed is slower than airtel

dont switch to tata wimax, over time you will realize that you are at an advantage of having consistent internet and you would rather keep that than have higher download speeds which may disappear at any point of time..

Found a solution for the long time it takes to connect to Tata Wimax,

I have found that for some reason if you keep the modem on all the time its faster while connecting.

If you switch on your modem when you are booting up it takes a good 10 minutes to connect..

    Anyone knows why?

quite possibly cuz the modem has to assign an ip to the pc, but since the pc is booting.. the modem is timing out with the pc connection and retries only once every 5-10 mins i guess..or cuz its not receiving any data from the pc it doesnt have any reason to grab an ip and keep a hold on it..

Well isnt it the other way round. The PC requests to an IP from the modem, and if the modem is set to DHCP, an IP will be allocated automatically !!
