    Default Reliance Data Card (Wimax)

WiMAX, meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology that provides for the wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-point links to portable internet access[citation needed]. The technology provides up to 75 Mb/s symmetric broadband speed without the need for cables. The technology is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard (also called Wireless Access).

Yes, Reliance Wimax is better than Reliance Broadnet.
I am using Reliance Wimax from 10 days and haven't faced any downtime. The download speed is 40-50 kB/s. I am on 400kbps plan.

But why don't you try Tata Indicom Wimax.
My friend is getting download speed of 60-70-80 kB/s in his 256kbps pack. 60kB/s at an average.
I am not satisfied with Reliance Wimax compared to Tata Wimax.

I you are going with Tata Wimax anyway, then please share your experiences with me as soon as its installed...

    Good LuCK

Lol. You got in just soon after their last server maintainance / whatever. Wait till the next one. You're not a true reliance wimax lover till you learn to accept downtimes that this connection comes with.

    i am in bangalore, 300kbps
and now the speed is 5KB, 10KB for two days.
and download doesn't work, getting broken files.
    it was working fine before.

maybe some maintenance is going on.

    but the amusing thing is.
the link, of speedometer on their login page..
    http:.....user/refresh/null

so i can't measure my speed officially. hehehe
and last night this tool was working.

and guess what was my download speed ,
    it measured, 1912kbps
    and upload speed 2112kbps.
well, i was not that lucky.
    the IP there was 10.something.
that was not my ip, maybe server ip.
    ================
    update...
    i just read

http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...html#post79171 (Slow NET - Three Undersea Cables Cut in Mediterranean !!!)

that three undersea cables got cut.
so maybe this is becoz of that
    :-(

    Hello Guys,

I really dont know about the Reliance WImax but i very well know about the Reliance datacard internet connection which is an usb modem which runs without power. I faced a lot of problem with this internet connection. it is too worst and too bad.

I recide in bangalore and i brought this connection before 2 years back. First i got the postpaid connection. The connection is too bad and too worst. when i try to download some thing it will not come more than 10 kbps. even though i adjusted with that download speed. But slowlely it started the download speed also keep comming down then the existing speed ( 10kbps). But they came down to 200 bytes/sec. i just tested it for a while for upto a month. there is no change in the connection. and rather the connection use to keep on terminating for every 5 minutes or 10 minutes. so i disconnected the conection and went for Tataindicom data card connection which is far better then this.

Later on after 1 year i again took the Reliance data card connection as i dont have anyother connection at that time. But again i experienced the same problem. in the whole period i contacted the customer care center. they ask about the system cofiguration, signal and lot of things and at the end they say they are taking the complaint but of no use. when i call them they say they took the action and looking at that issue or no responce or the customer care disconnectes in the middle while i am in the process of questions and explanations.

when i disconnected the connection and i paid the amout to the reliance for closing the connection but for a day a lot of calls use to come from the reliance communications form all over the bangalore saying that you didnt pay the amount. if we have 100 reliance communications centers atleast 5 to 6 communiction centers use to call me frequently saying that i need to pay the amount for that.

this is too bad so my dear friends just reliaze how bad is the reliance connection and please dont go for that. and again you know what is the cost of the 1 month unlimited connection. it is 1100 rs including tax. and the speed i get is 200 bytes/sec which is too worst. if not i get 10 kbps very rarely..

    so friends just reliaze...

The reliance data card works on CDMA technology. You'll get the same kinds of speeds you would get on your reliance cdma phone.

Reliance wimax is much faster, scalable, and more consistent than your cellular networks.

If you're looking to rant about reliance data cards, or for that matter, any datacards, just know that it's the same story everywhere, on all services. cellular networks don't really work too well for PC based internet services. Wait till 3G is commercially launched, you might find a better mobile internet plan.
