The POE is an essential component of the Wimax system. Please do not switch it off, if u want to continue using the connection.

All your hardware is a like a bridge between you and the internet.

    Wifi or LAN setup:
    Code:
    (You)=(PC)=(LAN Cable/WiFi)=(Router)=(LAN Cable)=(POE)=(LAN Cable)=(Antenna)
    Regular setup:
    Code:
    (You)=(PC)=(LAN Cable)=(POE)=(LAN Cable)=(Antenna)
Do you see how many bridges have to be built before you can access the internet?

If you remove even a single link in the bridge, like say... the POE, this is what happens:
    Wifi or LAN setup:
    Code:
    (You)=(PC)=(LAN Cable/WiFi)=(Router)=(LAN Cable)= =(LAN Cable)=(Antenna)
    Regular setup:
    Code:
    (You)=(PC)=(LAN Cable)= =(LAN Cable)=(Antenna)
You see? Broken bridge! How will you get the internets now?

So, in the interest of accessing the internets whenver you want, I beg of you, please, PLEASE, DO NOT BREAK THE BRIDGE!!!!

    *runs off in madness*

to summarize , i should not be swithing off the linksys router. Well noted.

but, tell me one thing, is the router sturdy enough that it will not go beserk if left switched on 24x7 365
