Default wimax and winodows media player

hi guys i've been using rel wimax for quite some, and recently one problem has started with my windows media player media sharing.
although i dont use windows media player sharing, pop-ups in taskbar keep asking me if i wanna share my media with some one (various pc names appear example rahul-pc, sharma-pc, shelscore2duo etc).
i've just one pc, no wifi, just the wimax, no bluetooth in my pc, how is that something like this is happenning. if someone coukd throw light on it?

Better contact Reliance themselves. I guess they are sharing the connection across a specified number of people. Maybe that's why those names are being listed.

You get to see other users in the same subnet. I recommend you adjust your firewall / security settings to protect yourself better, just incase someone else with a bit of expertise decided to try and get into your PC to get your files.

well its not an issue of shared ip, the firewall is working fine, no viruses etc.

since the windows media player only tells the mac address and computer name of the device it finds on the network i earlier thought it would not be possible to find which ip address are actually these macs' connected to, but arp -a command in dos prompt reveals all the info.
more often than not it shows me a list of 5 to 6 ip addresses and in between i can find the mac addresss of the device that wmp finds.
until day before yesterday the devices that wmp found were all computers but yesterday evening it also found an unknown device!!.

can you all also check with arp -a command in cmd and tell me if you also see a list of ip's or just the ip of gateway.

    Default Check your network settings

1.Most probably u've set ur network as private network, this happen with reliance.
As for the quick fix, just change your network to the public nework.

    2.Alternatively open windows media player
If you want, you can turn off media sharing for only yourself or for all users of your computer.

Click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click Media Sharing.

Clear the Find media that others are sharing and Share my media to check boxes, and then click OK.

By clicking OK, you are confirming that you want to turn off sharing for yourself. You will also be asked if you want to turn off sharing for everyone else that uses this computer. Note that if you leave one of the check boxes selected, some sharing services might continue to run in the background.

When you are prompted to turn off sharing for everyone that uses the computer, do one of the following:

To make your changes apply to all users of your computer (including yourself), click Yes.

To make your changes apply only to yourself, click No.

    3.

just open msconfig (type the command)
there in the services tab uncheck the windows media player sharing service.
That takes care of your problem
    want more?
