    Default Wireless NetGear compatibility problem?

    Hi guys,

My Reliance Wimax works perfectly through my Netgear Wireless router and I am very happy with the consistency in speed. However, sometimes, all of a sudden and without any logic, it stops working through the router. It works when connected to a single PC but doesnt connect through the router at all. Then, all by itself, after a 12 hours or 18 or 24 hours it connects through the router. Without anyone doing anything to it. There is no explanation for this. Even the Reliance tech support and all the various engineers who have come to my place have no answer.

Is there an explanation for this weird behaviour? Anyone have any suggestions? Or a similar experience? Do let me know if this problem can be solved

I get this problem at times and I have noticed that when my antennae connects to some towers I have an issue with my Router getting an IP but when it connects to other towers it gets an IP assigned.. I don't know how their DHCP is configured but it looks like some problem with the provisioning there. The last few weeks I have been having serious issues with getting an IP but now since I have been connecting to another tower that has been provisioned recently I haven't had any issues... its been going great for almost a week now.. only time will tell.

    @deepakdhinghra

Kindly post details of your Netgear wif router.
AND wimax UNIT and system layout.
    .
If I remember correctly, the Wimax unit is
mounted in (say your terrace) and the RJ45 cable also supplies power to the unit.

Confirm set up ( higher the height better.Meaning
the antenna should be at a higher height,
and "look" at the tower without any obstruction.
    "Line of sight") SEE ANNEXURE.

If you are changing location in your house ( with laptop), this could happen because of WIFI router used. ( range limited usually to radius of 30 feet*conditions apply !)

This seems a common Reliance problem across board. I suspect some of the links (MPOA or something) on the server required for router is missing at times. There is a consistent -3000 error suggesting the node is connecting forever. I have it occasionally and have tried various things with little success.
Maybe at some stage, we should all get together and represent to Reliance if this continues.

    Default Problem still exists

    Hi Guys,

The problem that I had written about is still the same even after several months now. I am now thinking about changing over to Airtel.

If Ashraf Zaidi could post what Linksys router is he using maybe I could buy that and try for a while.

    Thanks.

    Deepak
