    Default Wifi Declaration

Yesterday I was Unable to get an IP on my wireless router. After several attempts I decided to connect the LAN cable directly to my computer and troubleshoot. I immediately got an IP and when I opened my browser and logged in instead of getting the Reliance Home page I got some declaration form stating that I had to declare my wireless router as per DOT guidelines and that Reliance had the right to terminate service in 7 days if not declared.

Did the reset of you get the message??

Mine is a Reliance wired, and I too had trouble with wireless router over the last 2-3 days, never getting an IP. The modem was working directly however.

I got the same screen pushed to update the Wifi details the evening of the day before yesterday. I don't believe however that this was mandatory according to DOT, as claimed on the screen; I guess that is only for the contact details. I however entered the wifi detail in the hope that the recent issues with no IP for router will go away, with Reliance configuring the servers accordingly for these customers.

Anyway, the wifi works now, and I hope this stays so.

Some Reliance guys were telling me to declare that you didn't use a wifi, but I fail to understand what is the big wrong thing about a wifi to hide!!!

Dunno about you guys, but when i got that router message I was connected through my router only.
And I guess if you tell them that you're using a router they will come to investigate whether your connection is secured to prevent unauthorised use by strangers.

After the mumbai affair, DOT has made it mandatory for the operators and the users to ensure that the wifi routers are properly secured.
in case of any failure to do so, and resultant use for any terrorist activity, the user and the operator would also be booked under the National Security Act.

why would the operator be booked
say the operator came to my house secured the router and then when he goes back ill keep the guest access on, then its not the fault of operator na..

Is your router's wifi access secured at present?
Am not sure whether there is a way to track it remotely.

Interestingly, the two new fields added about the wifi use and the router model number have now been removed from the account profile page.
