Thread: ZYLOG WI-FI/WI-MAX 1 mbps - Unlimited Rs/-550

Since the end of August/2009 Zylog has started giving a semi-wired (same as wi-max) connection in CHENNAI at the speed of 1 mbps unlimited and the cost is Rs/-550 per month.
Once u call them up, they will ask whether u got LAPTOP or DESKTOP... juz tell them that u got DESKTOP so u can get a WI-Max connection free.
If u says laptop they will give u a WI-FI zone password.
Now the connection is limited to ADYAR, BESANTH NAGAR, GUINDY and THIRUVANMIYUR

Is it possible to use a wireless router with this connection?? any updates??

Not clear. do they give a PCI wireless lan card for your desktop ?
For laptop only wlan card in laptop required.
I can only connect with the User ID and PW given by Zylog

Once u say them tht u got laptop they will give u a user ID n PWD for the wi-fi zone. And u can use that, as ur laptop got wi-fi integrated.
If u tell them that u got a Desktop and it got ethernet card only, they will come to ur premises n install an antenna type of thing (some wot same as WI-max) over ur roof or where ever possible and an ethernet RJ-45 cable will be the out put from that, u can use in ur desktop/laptop .

It is understand that Desk top is needed dongle to get wifi connection. what is the procedure or the details about the DONGLE's play in wireless network. If we use dongle & roof top instrument(from wifi) is it works? I am confused by this dongle/wireless connection with desktop. If the dongle is needed for desk top, what will be the cost? Can explain?

so what is the problem if they give you a wifi zone password , is that connection not so good???

IF the plan is unlimited ISP appears to restrict access to only one computer/System at a time.
( desktop or laptop ..... Probably MAC address locked )

What Is a Hardware Dongle?
Give details of your present setup.
System desktop and or laptop
Modem used
Wifi router used.
number of systems in use.
ISP. connection Landline ( telephone line) or Wimax or Ev-Do etc
