Thread: Reliance WiMax - Two Thumbs Up.

And today i got my Reliance WiMax installed at 1536 kbps.I took the 1536 kbps plan at 2700 per month but i have opted for 8041 quarterly.

I have read many reviews here about poor connectivity but believe me if you have a BTS Tower within 2-3 KMs, you will not have any problem.

Here is the primary Results which have been setup by the Reliance installation guys.

They set the CINR at 22 & RSSI at 62 from which i was getting the above speeds but After they leave my house , i did Re-align my SS & connected to another tower with better values which is below.I wanted a better CINR than the Reliance configured 22 but i did not want to argue with them.So, i did it myself & am happy about it.

The new speed test result is Freaking awesome for a 1536 kbps line & my Ping has got much improved too ( 71 to 63 ) .

I know there are lot of people here who just hate Reliance because they are not satisfied , either for their location where WiMax Towers are not present nearby or maybe any other reason.
But I am too much satisfied with this.Reliance WiMax ROCKS believe it or not.

I went for the Static IP plan.So, there's no Login/Disconnection for me.Connected 24x7 without dropping a single connection & I have configured the connection to be worked with my Linksys WAG120N Wi-Fi Router.

I do not think any other ISP in India can provide this speed on a 1536 kbps line.Rcom rocks all the way.

Indeed Reliance is best when it comes to wireless or wired no other ISP matches up with it.

i opted for 750 rs unlimited plan with 512 kbps speed. the tower is not more than 500mtrs. away from our house.and i am getting 2 mbps speed even after 15 days and sometimes upto 4 mbps.speedtest.net/result/804363933.png see it.

You are confused & you are posting in the wrong forum.This thread is about Reliance WiMax Wireless Broadband connection & you are posting your BSNL Wired Home UL750 Plan here.And your BSNL Home Plan is NOT wireless.Then how come the distance of the tower comes into question ?

Ok I found him making another thread that it's an WiMax connection from BSNL.Why BSNL is giving him 512 Kbps WiMax UL plan for 750/- where it says it's 1800/- on the official site here :- Wimax Tariff Plans ? Since when BSNL is offering WiMax plans at the rate of wired connections ?

This is why I assumed he is talking about the Home 750 UL @ 512 Kbps.

But still it's the wrong forum.

Actually i never heard of bsnl wimax too.

Man they are trying to rob their WiMax customers.Rupees 12000/- for a 1Mbps connection ? Looks like we are going back to the past again.

i posted in this forum because i wanted to show you that relaince is not best. i have used their products before like netconnect.those were just s***.bsnl rocks.and relaince su**s big time.

I have quit from BSNL after suffering 5 shitty years with them.So, i know which is best for me.BSNL sucks big time.In my case Reliance ROCKS.

This is not because i'm using Reliance now.I have suffered 5 years of their pathetic connection & I was forced to change to Reliance after 5 years of suffering & i am only using Reliance for past 3 months & i could not have asked for a better connection.No disconnection or connection drops for even 1 minute which is very common to BSNL connections & I am saying it from my past experience.

I have used BSNL much more than you.So, i know this better.I'm not a Reliance Fanboy or something but I have the ability to understand which is good & which is bad for me.

You sound to me the FIRST PERSON who is praising BSNL.Good for you but BSNL sucks for most others.Reliance is the No.1 ISP who does not have f****** FUP like Airtel , BSNL & Tata.

Reliance rocks for me.

I am getting 2mbps download speed. but for upload speed i am not satisfied.

Oh it's the Single User Plan right ? You can't use multiple computers to Log-In at the same time.That's the problem of the Single User Plans.Also , are the Single User plans for Kerala only ? I can't find these plans on the official central BSNL site.

I hope you find your plan useful.I had to quit BSNL after 5 years of suffering.I never wanted to switch ISP but i was forced to.Who will bother frequent disconnections , packet losses , connection drops at a regular basis ?

for home use we only need single user and 750rs for 2mbps a good deal.
for uploading its very low.

This is NOT correct for many people actually because many people have more than 1 computers at their homes i.e. 1 laptop & a Desktop is very common now-a-days I think.Also some people have other devices to access the Net i.e. Mobiles/iPads even in home.

I use it on my home too but i need to connect 4 devices at a time.Me & My brother need to access Net & I sometime use my laptop & my Mobile too to access the Net via Wi Fi.So, Single User Plan is not applicable for me as a home user but I agree that , this plan is good enough for people like you who does not need to access Internet from multiple devices.

could you explain this process of setting up the wifi modem cum router in a little more detail? If i have a wifi modem cum router with a dsl port ad 4 ethernet ports and i have a wimax connection with static IP, then how can i achieve Wifi for the house?

Also, how does one access the console screen of the wimax modem and how to change the settings for CINR and also how doe one connect to a different tower?

any help would be much appreciated.

I have got some improvement. I have reset router to company defaults.

1. Now the router homepage is opening and I have set up the IP as dynamic and re booted.
2. The internet is working only on a single machine, either desktop/laptop but the system is not asking for further authentication.
Any way to make sure both works at the same time?

We booked reliance wimax 3 days back. Before installing that i am really excited i can connect to internet from home..

I was in london for many year ther is wi fi i used , its too fast i expect same here

which wimax plan did you choose? can you give a link?

Any one from Chennai using wimax. I am going to get new connection I need suggestion on OMR road. Current on my flat don’t have any wired internet provider. They only choice to go is wimax and reliance broadband+. But broadband+ not helped me due to poor constant signal strength

CHECK Reliance(Bsnl/Airtel/TataIndicom) 3G availability.
