    Default Just ordered Reliance Wimax!!!

Yesterday i ordered a Reliance Wimax connection and out of curiosity came online to collect some more info about the service. Had read alot of good/bad things/reviews about the service and I am confused now!!!!

Need some opinions about the service to know if I should go for it or keep my Sify connection alive???

p.s. - my sify connection is giving me problems due to which im looking for other services.

    Hi,
If Airtel broadband is available in your area, go for it.
Much better than Reliance Wimax and no signal drops, poor CC, etc

    reliance is better than sify
but it is not that you will not suffer, may be a little less than sify but suffering cant be avoided with reliance

if you have bsnl or airtel got for them first, if you don't have choice then go for reliance

as you have already ordered, better check the stability of reliance connection for some days. If it is good, go with it. Did you ask any feedback from your neighbours?

unfortunately, besides sify i have hathway, from the same service provider though, no other options in case of service! but yeah there 3 different service providers, providing me sify, hathway and now reliance wimax service!!

So yeah im thinking of sticking to sify and still using reliance, just to judge the performance and then think which one to keep!

    Smile Dont Worry

I think there is no prob if you go for Reliance..
As Reliance offer you same upload and download speed (i.e. if you have 300kbps plan then you will get 300kbps upload n 300kbps download speed )
so this connection is really good if you are using any private torrent site to download to maintain your ratio.
This is not the case with other ISP.
e.g SIFY will give you speed of 256kbps download and 64kbps for upload for their 256kbps plan

The problem may arise if the distance between your home and Reliance Tower is maximum than 15km.

I am using Reliance wimax connection from last 12month with no serious problem.

The distance from my Home to Tower is about 6-6.5Km.

My Speed for my 300kbps plan...

ashish..........better chk out the facts bfore u post ne thing. it can mislead some one.
max radius one BTS (base tower station) which is fitted on the reliance cell towers can cover is 2.5-3 kms arial distance. and for ur info all cell towers are not fitted with BTS. so even if there is a tower nr. ur place & not fitted with BTS than reliance is not able to provide u a connection.

another goof up u hv made is abt the speed. dont go by the speed test they are very misleading...wont elaborate on the speed issue as u will find other threads on this forum which proves how wrong it can be !!!!!! neways it was ur 1st post ....welcome to the forum.....

I agree with you, the max distance it covers is around 3 Km, when i took the connection i was told that i was at the end or just beyound the 3 km range but still it would work, but i never did, i had lot of issue like DHCP issues and uplink issue, they are very clever in hiding the uplink number, you can only see the down link signal strength. i took static ip which cost Rs 2000 / year but that also did not work, so finally disconnected the connection and took Tata wimax which is touch wood quite stable. customer care is bad for both the wimax providers.

It is all subjective, if you are near the tower then u will not have much problem but if u are far then u will have all the problems in the world
