    Question Firewall settings..help

    Hi All,
Thanks for having this forum :-)
i am so happy to find this forum.
    Thanks to all.

i got this reliance wireless last week.
    i am having same problems,

getting default ip, no connectivity sometimes.
    got 'authencation failed' few times.

and today i got new ip 123.237.. (Bangalore) previously i used to get different,
and now lease for 10 min :-( which gets disconnected too.

i am using zone alarm firewall.
i want to know, which ip addresses i shud allow as trusted one.
coz my zonealarm keeps blocking many request from some servers 123.237.xx.xx or like that on another ports.

maybe these guys keep sending some type of signals to check my active connection or some other info.
and bcoz i block all these, maybe i can get dc.

so i allowed 123.237.0.0 to 123.237.255.0 now. as trusted.

but what if some user who got similar ip from reliance,
and wants to play with my pc ?

so what settings i shud use ?
which address i shud allow to contact me on other ports etc, without being afraid of :-(

if anyone use zonealarm or other firewalls, please tell me abt the correct setting.

    PS:-
i am able to connect, and work too.
but in the meantime, i keep getting such request in firewall alert log,(blocked)
maybe sometimes, when they r changing lease,
or trying to figure out something.
    maybe they disconnect me sometimes.
why do i keep getting such requests?

    sample of request:
    like this..
    tcp(flag:S) svchost.exe 123.237.140.207:44557
    123.237.209.202:28138
    123.237.126.90:1588
    and so on.

As you will not be networking with other clients in reliance network, you don't need to allow any IP other than your gateway

Your gateway IP address is that server which will communicate with and other are of no use

Check in ipconfig /all what is your gateway and allow traffic from gateway

    Thanks friends.

    i can't bunk this :-(
i am near electronic city, remote area, no more landline, only wireless.
and i used Tata indicom, but it gives less speed, and no unlimited.

right now, i got that default ip, but by using help from this forum,
i tried ipconfig flushdns, release n renew. and it worked.

but i have got lease of 8mins only, let's see, will this connection still be working after lease renews. :-(

Thanks, i will do this /all n find out abt dns servers :-)

    And please tell me,
how to disconnect this network correctly.
i logout, then disable n/w connection, switch off pc, then switch off the instrument.
and while logging, switch on computer, switch on instrument, then enable n/w.

are these two methods correct ?

if i start pc again, many times i don't get connection so easily, unless i try ipconfig /renew two three times.
    ----
i have blocked all other ip,
and i am getting request like.
    124.125.25.177:43189 etc. which firewall blocked.
    and connection is working good.

    PS..
and i got so many request blocked by other ip 124.125.xxx.xxx
but no request came by gateway ip.

i am going to block everything else now.
i will try to note down the blocked ip, if i get dc.

and i am concerned abt this,
coz when i have ip in the range, 123.237.xxx.xxx
i get many requests from 123.237.0.0 to 123.237.255.0

and now this time i got ip in 124.125.xxx
i get requests from 124.125.xxx ranges.
    now i don't get those 123.237.xxx requests.

so i guessed maybe these server ppl r sending me requests.
my fear is there might be some users included in that.

few months back, i read somehwere,
these network guys try to find out,
whether connection is active, is being used by single account, one comp. etc.

so i don't want to block such things :-)
