Rep Power: 0 | I am in Navi Mumbai (sanpada) I want to go for Reliance Wimax 400kbps plan. Can anybody advice me whether it will be good compared to others? Secondly, I want to share this connection with my neighbour via router (he won't be using it more than 1 hr a day)... what will the effect of using router? does reliance allow using my own router or i will hve to go by whatever they provide? and what will be the charge for it? |

2. You cannot share a connection with anyone - even for a minute. First it is strictly illegal and you can be fined or jailed or both. Secondly if you neighbour does some illegal activity you will be held responsible. Thirdly if there is excess usage you will be billable. 3. You can add you own router, e.g., a wireless router, to make the connection wireless at home. Reliance cannot and will not object to this nor will they charge you but remember point 2.

He told me that 1. they can put a router for sharing the connection. 2. it will amount to division of speed when both the nodes are accessing network 3. they will charge Rs 99 per mth for the router rent

Rep Power: 10 | You can get your own router reliance has got nothing to do with what you use and what you dont. Sharing your connection with your padosi is illegal. |

I also used to believe that it is illegal. But now, if Reliance itself is going to put router (and charge me in the bill for its rental, if i go for their router), how can it become illegal?

Rep Power: 10 | Using a router is not illegal. That wireless router is for sharing the connection inside the premises not your padosi's house as well. |

Rep Power: 0 | I have used the reliance wimax 400 kbps unlimited plan. It gave me regular download speeds of 45-47 kbps. Make sure that you have a reliance wimax tower in visible range where the antenna will be put.The connection will work good if you have a tower closeby.I faced some downtime problems, but a renew IP or a restart more or less solved it everytime. |
