I have been using Reliance Wimax in mumbai, for more than a month. Not a single hour of downtime. My laptops connected 24*7

I agree. But I just gave my side of the story, and most problems faced here are people from bangalore ? Correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks

Yes u r right...Reliance is facing major problems in Banglore only. I am in Gujarat and using since last 6 months w/o ne major issues. I am in 20GB plan per month. If i am not satisfied i will definetly not cont. the service that is for sure. Tell me which ISP's CC is gud. All sucks.

Last month I logged 2 tickets, which they resolved with in 24 hours. I recd calls from mumbai from their technical dept. as well as from local office also. I have recomended reliance to my 3-4 friends & they are also happy with the speed & connectivity. I had very bad experience in BSNL at my office while it is working fine at my resi. So..............

My observation for ne ISP is "jo ISP aapke yahan acha chale woh ISP accha".

Ya in fact i've jumped from being dissatisfied to satisfied to again very dissatisfied to again satisfied till date.

Its been a frustrating last month for me. They gave me just 7 days waiver for 25 days of downtime. but still i consider paying them up is way better than the local provider in my area. Now after realignment its again working like a charm for the last 16-17 days. Starts up within about 4 mins of switching on the transceiver. Gives constant connectivity. No issues. Also i'm considering jumping to the 400kbps@1000+taxes plan. Cause it will save my computer and electricity too.

On this plan (150kbps) my system is on an average switched on for ~23hrs a day. With the speed boost it will be on for less than half the time. So still contemplating.... Maybe they'l reduce the price or increase the speed of this plan too... who knows....

Sticking to the topic i think it depends on where u live. I'm at dwarka, new delhi btw... and its working fine now.

Best part what I like abt Reliance wimax is CLEAN CONNECTIVTY. No ups & down in speed. No line noise issues. That is the reason speed is consitent.

I suggest no harm in trying out. If things dont work out at ur place, what u will loose is rs.562 /- towards installation. Dont know abt Delhi but here there are some desperate dealers of wimax who may offer u some discount also, something in the range of 100-200. Try to bargain.

The speed actual or stated will be the same buddy.

The apparent downfall of the speed in downloads is just the speed in KBps (Kilo Bytes per sec)... just divide your plan bandwidth (in kbps=kilobits per sec) by 8. You'l get the 'download speed'.

2mbps=2048kbps; 2048/8=256KBps. The actual speed will be a bit on the lower side in actual conditions but not too less from this value.

Btw i don't think 2mbps plan exists in reliance?

    Peace!

They do have 2mbps connection but they come with a data transfer limit.

this is what they offer :

Download speed---- monthly plan charges------ installation charges---- Data transfer
    150kbps-------------- Rs750 ----------------------Rs500 -------------UNLIMITED
    300kbps------ --------Rs999 ----------------------Rs500 -------------UNLIMITED
    600kbps --------------Rs1799 ---------------------Rs500 -------------UNLIMITED
    2Mbps --------------Rs750 -----------------------Rs500 ------------4GB per month

There is also an option to go wifi which will cost you an additional Rs 199 per month

whihc plan have you got and what sort of speed do you get when downloading large files?

Any disconnection issues? or long downtimes? and any problems like loss of connection for a fraction of a sec and then starts working again? I have to download large back up files every other day to keep a local copy thats why I need a bit stable and fast connection...

Well admin....last month was terrible for the connection. 25 days of downtime.. before that the connection had been working steadily for 2 months or so...

but now things have started working fine again. No single second of downtime for 20 days now. They realigned the receiver to another bs in an area i know have a lot of wimax connections. Now its working without issues. It starts working in 3 mins (amount of time to hook up to the bs) after switching on. The dynamic ip given to my pc on the first sign in to the bs after realignment has been manually configured in my lan settings by the technical guy. So no ip issues too.

Previously too with the dynamic ip i did not have any sort of ip issue. At this point i'm very much satisfied with it. The speed is constant. I haven't checked the signal strength again though, but it must be good seeing that it never disconnects even for a fraction of second.

I called up the number you gave me and the guy said I would have to wait for another 20 days or so as they dont have the equipment and ar waiting for new wimax stuff... thats why I opted for tata wimax... its been down since day one only worked for 4-5 hours and that is it.

it is 400kbps for rs.999/- (they increased the speed from 300 to 400kbps)
and 600kbps is 1399/- (they reduced the price from 1799 2 months back)
    1mbps is 2199/-
They have more data xfer plans other than 750/- 4gb
    1199/- for 8gb, 1999/- for 12gb, 2999/- for 20gb (i am in this plan)
    4999/- for 35gb & 8999/- 75gb

Question Broadband users plz hepl !!!

The actual download speed in 2mbps plan is around 200KBps..
So does it mean that it uses minimum 200KB as i open everypage although the page is of 10 KB...
If i use net for 5 seconds then its usage goes to 5secs x 200KB that is 1000KB that is 1MB..
    Is this true..
    REply itz urgent..
Icant afford to use 1MB every 5 seconds or for every page

@^^^ No it is not so. The usage depends on the size of the web page not the seconds it needs to open. The usage will depend on how many pages you open.

I am in Navi Mumbai (sanpada)
I want to go for Reliance Wimax 400kbps plan.

Can anybody advice me whether it will be good compared to others?

    Secondly,
I want to share this connection with my neighbour via router (he won't be using it more than 1 hr a day)... what will the effect of using router?

does reliance allow using my own router or i will hve to go by whatever they provide? and what will be the charge for it?

    1. Reliance services sucks. Wimax will work good if you are close to the tower. Otherwise it is just like the mobile phone problem - if you are away from tower you get low signal and call drops occur.

    2. You cannot share a connection with anyone - even for a minute. First it is strictly illegal and you can be fined or jailed or both. Secondly if you neighbour does some illegal activity you will be held responsible. Thirdly if there is excess usage you will be billable.

    3. You can add you own router, e.g., a wireless router, to make the connection wireless at home. Reliance cannot and will not object to this nor will they charge you but remember point 2.

    He told me that
    1. they can put a router for sharing the connection.
    2. it will amount to division of speed when both the nodes are accessing network
    3. they will charge Rs 99 per mth for the router rent
