Default Samsung Galaxy S7 could be cheaper than Galaxy S6!

Yes, you heard it right. As per reports the most awaited Samsung Galaxy S7 could be cheaper than S6, that is upto a 10% cheaper. This is just to withstand the pressure from competitors like Apple, HTC, Sony etc. Samsung is facing high pressure from Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Lenovo etc as they offer hi-tech features at very low prices.

As per a research analyst Samsung could be out of phone making business in less than five years as the competition is very stiff in Android mobile market. Competitors are ready to give phones with good specifications at cheaper rates. Also the threat from Apple iPhones add fuel to fire. Hope this new move is towards ensuring its survival in the market.

But the only way to get out of this dilemma is to develop an OS which can compete with Android. But the fact remains that Samsung could not progress much in the development their OS Tizon.

Webworld, I think that in global market around the world it will be complicated to happen. In some countries, there is culture of the new is most expensive. Moreover, we are talking about a flagship model. So, let's wait..

I agree with your points to some extent. It is very unlikely to happen, but we cannot ignore the stiff competition that is going on. To survive in this market companies will be forced to get rid of traditional ways. Especially in Android market too many players are there. With the advent of Chinese phone manufacturers, there is really a price war going on. To compete with models like Xiaomi, I think Samsung needs to cut down the price.

However, the best part is that it will be ultimately beneficial to the end user.

I think that it could be more expensive considering that samsung could become greedy and increase the price so that they make more money. Also to drive out other competitors so that they are the top and no one can compare. There is also the fact they may have to raise the prices if more people buy it and there is not enough s7 for people to buy. Lastly samsung has a large market so that they can sell phones. These are some reasons as why samsung could increase the price on the s7.

I agree with you. We know how Samsung is greedy and when a new high end is launched to increase the wish to have the last phone. Therewith, both Samsung as Apple practice unfair prices for their high end phones.

I feel even though Samsung got a good market, it's shrinking. They have to face stiff competition from other players like Micromax, Sony, HTC, LG and other Chinese models who offer mobile phones with good features at cheap rates. When it comes to durability, even Samsung cannot be trusted now. As a part of minimizing the cost of production and increasing the profit, I think they have already compromised with quality. But there are some exceptions too.

Recently there was a news that Samsung is focusing more on their OS, Tizon and already planned to introduce new phones which run on Tizon. I think Samsung has already smelt the danger and in a hurry to take proactive measures.

That is true considering that samsung isn't the only android player in the market also because of apple and windows. Another thing is that samsung is not doing good because of changes made to the phones such as the s6.

Personally, I think this is great news. Here in the UK, many people are iPhone users, especially the newer models such as the iPhone 6s. Lowering the price would definitely give Samsung the edge over apple, as currently both their devices are very similar priced, hence making people chose apple over Samsung due to the idea that apple make more quality products. However, a 10% price decrease would be a turning point, as I myself, and many others would chose the cheaper phone in this situation. I've not had that good of an experience with Samsung, as my only device from them - the Galaxy S3, was very buggy, and slow. Furthermore, the edge of the phone got chipped very easily, and the screen cracked when the device fell from my bed.

Recently, I read a news that said:" Galaxy S7 will receive Iris sensor, consequently it will be more expensive" .
If Samsung Galaxy S6 was launched about $600, if the sensor will be in new Samsung Galaxy S7, it is possible sum $100 to final price.

Well, that might be a sort of good news to the Samsung fanboys but to me, it really doesn't matter. I used to live Samsung quite a long time back, when there was not much rivalry in Android world. But now, I guess there are so many handset available in the market that are 'bang for a buck'. So why pay more for just a name?

Yes, you are right. That was an old news, but now time has changed a lot. Google and Samsung are working together as a team to make this model an outstanding one. As you said with Iris sensor, they are also planning to instal liquid crystal pipes inside the device to control heat and to incorporate a lot more new features into this phone. So, they makes this more expensive. Now they can confidently ask for a higher price as they really work hard to make this model a unique one. It is heard that the model will also have a better touch screen experience than that of Apple iPhone 6.

In my country, Samsung's devices are really expensive. Especially S6 and S6 Edge. Good phones but very expensive.

We will see the price when it comes out. Maybe I will buy one, if the price is okay.

Mihailo, The Samsung's high ends are very expensive in my country too. Moreover, these prices will increase because the government will increase the taxes in mobile phones. When I think in Samsung Galaxy S7, I do not have doubts.. it will be something extremely expensive.

I too think so, it could be very expensive keeping in mind the current happenings with regard to development of Samsung Galaxy S7. But it all depends on the competition in the market. If a competing model is available on the day of launch, they will not be able to increase the price to a great extent. That depends on the capability of the marketing team of Samsung too.

Like Apple witnessed an unprecedented sales figures for their iPhone 6 when the timing was perfect for them. They were also able to create a hype well before the actual launch. However, now they are forced to reduce the prices a number of times.
