Sify, the only internet provider in my location, is the only reason I am subscribed to it.
I am using the broadband of sify since last 2 years and I am completly dissatisfied with the service it provides.

The basic problems are:

1. Customer care is nil, they just know that a green light should be there behind yours pc and rest hey assure you that god will help you now.

2. They have blocked various ports so you can’t use telnet or use email smtp service, you have to change the ports in yours outlook express for the same.

3. The dialer that has been provided always instals its own anti virus, which is quite inferior as compared to my own norton , but you have no choice if you need sify you have to use there own anti virus.

In mumbai they are offering 40 kbps unlimited at the rate of 299 per month and in delhi there is no such scheme.
In delhi minimum is 48 kbps at the rate of 450 per month that is increase of 50 % for just 20 % increase in speed.

It is indeed the only choice for me, untill Reliance or VSNL launches there broadband in full capacity.

So if you don’t have any other choice then only join sify, otherwise keep away.

Am using sify broadband in delhi.
I have a unlimited usage package for 48 kbps.
I never get speeds beyond 24 -30 kbps.
That translates to 3-4 KBps.

They have?t permantly blocked websites but these websites are most problamatic with sify connection
1. www.runbox.com
2. www.rediff.com
3. www.cnn.com
4.www.reuters.com
5. www.moneycontrol.com

The downtime is around 30-40 mins per day with no fixed schedule.

My computer is almost working for around 16-18 hours a day so i need a unlimited connection.

You can?t ever hear internet radio which is available at radio.bollywoodmantra.com
