Rep Power: 3 | Have you ever complained to God why he never answers your prayers? Well, God’s another name is Sify Broadband Client Program. You click on the ’’Login’’ button. Nothing Happens. You click again. The whole programs seems to be stuck. You wait for a couple of minutes, you pray.... it shows ’’Error 529 you are already logged in.’’ So you close the program. Open it again. This time it takes 3 minutes to launch. You click on the ’’Login’’ button now. It gets stuck for a minute or longer. This time its ’’Error BB103, temporary disconnection’’. You are still unable to open a small page like www.google.co.in. But God is not always dissatisfied with your prayers. After 10 minutes pass, you try your luck on the program icon once again for the 3rd time. Now it gets launched in 3 seconds. Aha! Then you clicked on ’’Login’’... and it got connected in less than a second! Well, God IS powerful, when he answers your calls, he does answer fast! Welcome to the world of Sify broadband! It loads with a very compact Antivirus which maybe works. But once it starts running, a total of another 4-5 programs will ask you for internet access if you are using some firewall. Yes Sify client loads a lot of small programs in your memory, all of them needs the internet! One of them is a program called HBSBEAT.EXE. Sify client loads it everytime you log on, and it wants to use the internet every 5 minutes. But god knows what it does. What are all those other small programs which come with that free ’’antivirus’’ ? Why they always want to access the internet? Are they some sort of spy programs used to divulge my browsing habits, or maybe how many illegal mp3 files I have on my computer is reported to some remote server? Why none of them is mentioned in the product brochure? I have no idea. And why everytime I log in, the default sify homepage opens up? I am ready to pay some extra money if Sify can save me from closing that window 250 times every month. When I want to know my session details, why the client shows the details in such a small window which cannot be resized or maximized? Its not convenient to see all that lengthy data by moving the sliders. Cant those people just make a clean client that uses small memory without the picture of a fast moving fancy train? Take for instance - a power cut, I am trying to shut down my computer running low on battery. It says - ’’PLEASE CONFIRM LOGOUT’’..... I click on ’’OK’’. Then a long pause of 30 seconds.... and then again ’’THANK YOU FOR USING SIFY - CLICK ON OK BUTTON’’... my computer reboots due to low battery. God. What sort of brain you created that made this client? While shutting down a computer properly, why this program cannot close itself? By the way, unlike all windows programs, this program does not close by pressing Alt+F4. So there is no way to operate this program from your keyboard. Another big drawback is you cannot see the details of your current session from this program. You can never know when your data is crossing the 150MB limit. But Sify does penalize you by charging you for 1 day for every 25MB after this limit. So your 1 month unlimited plan can finish off in 7 days without any warning, if you downloaded a 600MB movie file one night. And the finest part is yet to come.... often it tells me: ’’YOUR SESSION EXPIRED, PLEASE LOG IN AGAIN’’ .....but actually I still can surf after that without logging in again. Nice piece of work!! If you are also trying it, let me know the effects of your prayers. |

Rep Power: 0 | I loved reading your post. Was searching for the reason for Session Expired, and reached here. When did they start this crazy bit of deleting sessions after sometime ? To stop piracy ? How the hell am I to upload my entire albums to my Flickr a/c which'll take hrs of uninterrupted upload ? Didnt they think of other reasons for long hrs of internet connectivity ? |
