    Cool One sify connection and two computers at home

    Hi,
    I have a desktop without wireless connection and laptop with wireless connection at home. I have one sify connection. I am planning to buy a router for my laptop. Can I setup the router such that the sify cable is plugged to the router all the time, and a wire from the port of the router to the desktop computer is connected, and the desktop can access the internet in wired mode at the same time laptop can access the internet in wireless mode both via the same router ?

    Thank you very much.

    Not much settings involved in the laptops, as the automatically search and connect to the available wi-fi network. Better concentrate on configuring the router, seek the help of Sify engineers for the same.

    Sify engineers are sh** and besides they will say

    "Sir we cant do anything you have to reggister the MAC addresses of all the machines which you are going to use"

    But now you will say that ok i will call CC and register all MAC addresses, now let me tell you something that its not that easy, its a veryyyy lonnggggg procedure which totally bullsh**

    You can do this as i have done at my home

    use the software known as technitream (not sure of the spelling) clone the MAC address and route your net connection through the wireless router

    sify can not handle one computer and you are thinking about two :lol:

    ok ok back to topic.
    yes you can use sify to connect two or more computers the only thing you need is a router.

    after connecting the router you just need to call sify to book MAC of your router on line so that it can make connection.

    Instead of contacting the CC, why dont u try emailing the problem to some senior officials. Doesnt Sify Broadband have nodal officer/appellate authority ??

    Someone should give some quality help around here

    ===============
    OBSERVATION 1:
    ===============
    What kind of router to go in for , 99% of the people are out there buying ADSL routers when sify is a cable provider !!

    ===============
    OBSERVATION 2:
    ===============
    What most peoples requirement is to have the username and password saved on the router so the router dials out and directly connects to sify and then a home lan can be setup so that you dont have to keep one machine on all the time just to connect to the internet .

    Some one needs to make a guide with pictures so the general public can make an informed decission before spending 3K+ in buying a router that wont even work with this service ,

    Some One Please HELP !!! :angry:
