Rep Power: 2 | This guide is for people who want to share a Sifi / Cable broadband connection between 2 or more PC's Things Required 1) 1 Lan Card ( other than the one you already have on your system ) 2) 1 Crossover Cable ( For 2 machines Only ) 3) Switch + Patch Cable ( For 3 or more machines ) SETTINGS FOR THE MAIN MACHINE: 1.Right Click “Local Area Connection 1” of the Sifi Lan Card that is MAC bound to your user name & password . 2.Click Properties 3.Click the Advanced tab on top 4.Under the title “ Internet Connection Sharing ” check the box “Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection ” 5.Under “ Home network Connection ” select the 2nd Lan Card from the dropdown list [ this lan card is the one you have connected to the Netgear Hub] 6.Click Ok ![]() SETTINGS FOR THE OTHER MACHINES: 1.Right click Local Area Connection 1 2.Click Properties 3.Select TCP/IP 4.Click Properties button 5.IP Address = 192.168.1.2 ( this will change to 1.3 / 1.4 for the other machines ( for machine #3, #4 etc etc ) 6.Default Gateway = 192.168.0.1 7.Preferred & Alternate DNS = ( Sifi Wala Settings From Main System ) 8.Use cross over cables when you want to only connect 2 systems together 9.Use a patch cable & a switch if you want to have 3 or more systems connected . Thats It , Enjoy !!!The only catch here is that if you want to use Broadband on the other systems your main system should be on 24x7 . This is a dummies guide , I am open to criticism only if it leads to making this guide better, otherwise F.O. |

Rep Power: 2 | Hi!! Awesome information. This is what we can say an excellent guide to share internet access on the network. Thx Well jakemake123456, The only glitch I saw in your post is the use of default gateway. you have mentioned an incorrect gateway address. For your network of 192.168.1.x it has to be 192.168.1.1 and not 192.168.0.1 Thx Last edited by anandfbd; 07-16-09 at 06:27 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
