    Exclamation Sify with UTstarcom (Bsnl-ADSL) WiFi Router

    Hi,

    I was earlier using BSNL at my old house. At new House I got Sify (Fire to Frying Pan). I have Utstarcom WA3002G-4 WiFi Router. Now is it possible to use it here with Sify or do I need to spend again for something which I already have. Well, I tried to configure it but could not succed.

    Problems :

    1. There is no Wizard or easy GUI to configure this Router.
    2. There's no option to clone my Laptop's MAC Address to this Router.
    3. How to configure it to Dial to Sify as Sifi needs a Client to dial n connect.
    4. How to assign IPs, DNS, n Gateway etc to it as it does not have GUI and will it be same or different than the the one I have for Laptop. While my attempt I got lot of IP Clashes Issues. (connect Sify on LAN but themoment connected to Wifi, Lan Crashes)
    5. Is there a way to get/upgrade easy GUI like Netgear or Linksys when I go to h_t_t_p://192.168.1.1/ , as what I am getting now is not very easy.
    6. In current Configurartion screen what all I need to configure and what settings to choose.

    Am sorry but as many attempts I made to configure It and the more I failed/Googled more I got confused and more Dissapointed with Sify as well as my router. Why are they so different than the rest and still they are no better. Before giving up, thought of a last try....Thanks

    Presume..
    (a)your BB connection is a RJ45 to your computer.
    ..(b) you use a dialer to connect
    ....(c) You would like to use a laptop in wifi
    ......(d) ISP has not given any (cable ) modem.

    Please confirm.
    2.
    You can try wa3002-g4 as a switch and try for desktop/and laptop wifi.
    ISP rj45 ==>> lan1 :
    lan2 ==>> computer.
    ~~~~ Wifi mode for laptop.
    ( I have not tried this , or have this unit . )
    see link below for wa 3002-g4 settings.
    3.
    Please copy/paste following data for LAN mode.
    procedure:
    START
    RUN type cmd
    Ok
    New window
    type ipconfig /all
    >>I dont use dialer , i use a web login . When i open mozilla or Crome for the first time in day it redirects me to its IP address where i have login option , than am connected and can use without restrictions
    (a)When connected to Internet get ipconfig /all data AND COPY/PASTE HERE.
    (b)
    The following procedure is only a trial. Not tested by me.
    (1)
    In your WA3002-g4 access modem menu
    192.168.1.1 userid admin PW admin
    select from menu wan page.
    select edit
    ( your cable net link not known) 0_35 etc
    ( ask your ISP and select)
    next page select MER
    ( usually Bridged or PPP/PPPoE)
    All other settings will be auto.
    WIFI later.
    Save and reboot.
    (c)
    Now connect Directly the Rj45 from ISP to LAN1
    of wa3002-g4. Take another similar rj45 cable , and connect from lan2 to computer ethernet port.
    Test whether internet works.
    wifi later.
    I changed setting in my router config namely IP address , subnet mask , default gateway , primary DNS and secondary DNS ( from the one applied in Windows LAN configuration) and i then again i had set the same settings in windows LAN config , with a IP conflict i could use internet along with Web login page via my laptop with RJ45 pin , but Wi-Fi is not getting connected and now i cannot access my router's config page , with default IP and can neither with the one is mentioned in the router settings ( reset solves this problem ) but again settings will get cleared . My main concern is Wi-Fi access
    AND now with router working with Laptop my ipconfig/all is :
    OK essbebe i finally got it working with both RJ45 and WiFi
    Am very thankful to you for your support and concern
    This forum proves its worth , its not that i was unaware but thanks to indiabroadband.net
    Now i will also share my setting and experience with everyone over here
    My Story :
    I used BSNL internet via phone line through a ADSL modem ( UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 ) which has 4 ethernet ports and 1 phone line port and 1 wifi antenna
    I quit BSNL because of its fraud billing , which i have proved it their Juior telecom officer , still no response . So employees also say that leave the connection if u have so many problems ( that was the best response i could get ) .
    They are still sending bills even though my phone and intrenet are disconnected .
    Am using Digital Internet , it like sify where you have LAN cable directly coming to your computer.It uses web login via its IP address . They have also set a IP address and subnet mask , along with default gateways and DNS 1 and DNS 2 .
    I planned to buy a router but then i remembered that i have a ADSL WiFi router / modem , but after seeking suggestions from my office's network Admin and Google i presumed that it wont work .
    Finally i dropped to this thread which was left unanswered , but there were few guys over the web who said it works with Sify , so i thought it would also work with my connection .
    Coming to SETTINGS :
    First of all reset your modem via a hole at bottom , near heat sink holes , a circular hole outside the square pattern of other holes .
    Note down all your IP config from accessing Network and sharing settings > manage network connection > Local area network > properties > IP4 properties . Note them
    Now set to obtain automatically ( U need to do this to access modem , once you are done with modem settings restore them back to same ) , you will also need them in configuring modem so preserve them .
    Modem settings >
    STEP 1 >>JUST connect the modem to computer via its LAN cable RJ45
    STEP 2>>Access settings via 192.168.1.1
    STEP 3>>In modem settings go to LAN settings leave the IP and Subnet settings intact to 192.168.1.1. and whatever , just change DHCP to " Disable DHCP server" checkbox .Save it
    STEp 4 >>Now in DNS , type your primary DNS in DNS 1
    type DNS 2 in secondary DNS .Save it
    STEP 5 >>Then go to routing ,
    remove the automatically obtain check from checkbox " default gateway "
    Add your default gateway in the box that appears below after unchecking .Save it
    DO NOT FOLLOW STEP 4 & STEP 5 if you dont have any IP configuration in network settings of your computer or if it is set to " obtain automatically " .
    Step 6 >> Add a security to your WAN network via Wireless section in modem settings , try adding WPA 2 or WPA 2 PSK , you can also use other , then AES or TKIP anything you wish to use , add a 10 digit key in numbers as required for WPA2 . Save it
    STEP 7 >> Shut down the modem , restore your IP config in Network and sharing settings > manage network connection > Local area network > properties > IP4 properties .
    I also use it for my smartphone HTC desire
    for that i had to add the same setting i use in my LAN IP4 in my phone to acces
    Now i can use one device at a time , as my Internet connection does not support 2 devices to access at a time , if your ISP allows this you can .
    Others can correct me if am wrong or missed something .
    Happy Networking and reading at indiabroadband.net
    essbebe thanks again for your co-operation .
    Hope it helps and serves as a knowledge resource to users like me .
    1.
    The idea is to use more than 2 systems at the same time.
    2.You can save present settings from mangement Back up menu.
    3.
    In MAC list you could add the address of second computer.
    4.
    Did you try the "MER" selection in WAN page ?
    see Reliance forum for identical situation.
    5.
    Copy/paste ipconfig/all
    Are you getting the same IP address ( static Ip address ?)
