Default Beware Of Sify Internet Hidden Cost

BEWARE OF SIFY INTERNET BROADBAND SERVICE PROVIDER

I have a Sifybroadband 256 kbps and have found mostly
good speeds. I renewed every month package ( 256Kbps
500MB download) which according to the price list was
Rs 380/- all inclusive for Taxes.

However, the Local Cable Operator charged me Rs 471/-
claiming Rs 90/- as maintenance charges per month for
    last 03 months.

The bill never mentions nor gives details breakup of
items. This additional collection was not mentioned
    nor updated anywhere by SIFY.

Also, prices vary from location to location with
multiple cable vendor/francise within same region.
Other cable operator in my region does not charge for
    Maintainence charges.

If I pay with my credit cards the charges are not
    taken into account.

SIFY IS "CHEATING CUSTOMERS" FOR HIDDDEN COST INVOLVED
NOT MENTIONED DURING RENEWALS ON MONTHLY BASIS.

The charges for providing internet services are to be
borne by the service provider and not by the Customer

One solution is by providing profit margins to cable
operator rather billing valuable customer for repair
    cost

There is no communication nor information available
from sify for changes in operation/maintanence cost
policy for all broadband internet subscribers.

I mailed customer care at Sify - and they replied that
the cable operator could charge whatever he wants over
and above the rate mentioned by Sify.. which means
that Sify leaves us at the mercy of the cable
operator, and leaves us to be fleeced by him!

Naturally, these maintenance charges problem came up
only at renewal, and there were no maintenance charges
    initially!

Whatever relationship for cable operator with sify,
the service and charges needs to be fixed by sify as
Internet service provider mentioning all details for
    the cost involved

I believe sify should prescribe cable maintenance
charges upfront and not wash their hands off, and the
charges must be mentioned in their rate list.

All Broadband users should be aware of hidden cost by
SIFY broadband which is unjustified as compare to
bandwidth usage charge on a daily basis.

I am rather disappointed and feel cheated, but
naturally I am stuck, especially after having paid the
initial connection charges of Rs 3000/. excluding NIC
    cost.

There are other broadband cable providers in this
area, and I want to go in for TATA Broadband so as to
get ride off "operation/maintanence" being charged by
my Cable operator and at lower price as compared to
    sify broadband.

Awaiting for positive response and feedback for
    closure from sify only.

    Regards

    Manish

^ sorry for that . where are you Located ... I'd suggest to
approach consumer court . if you change from SIFY to other
ISP , the initial payment taken by SIFY is not returned and
again you may have to pay some initial amount to other pvt
ISP for a new connection ...

A consumer court might actually get sify to pay you the initial charges aswell if you can prove that you were given misleading information and were never told about the cabel operator charges. You can make a point saying you had planned to stay with sify looking at the prices but this additional charges are not acceptable and you only made the initial investment bearing in mind that you will continue with the connection for many years.

You dont even have to hire a lawyer you can represent yourself, Just make sure you ave suffecient proof to prove that you indeed never agreed to any additional charges on top of sify charges.

Make sure you never signed any paperwork when yuo signed up so they dont have anythign to present to the honourable court.

    Good luck with that.

    Default you are cheated

I am using sify broadband for the past 1 year, I never never been charged for more than what im billed, which means never more than the bill amount.

Please call sify customer care and tell them that your cable company is cheating you.

Im in chennai. and i have not heard of any abuse like this here.

I am satisfied very much with sify here.

I donno how Sify's customer care is in rest of the major cities. I belong to Hyderabad and to be honest with you guys, SIFY chucks. They are notorious for their hidden charges and the domination of cable operators over SIFY. I too had to pay those "maintenance charges" before switching over to BSNL. In our country there is no virtual control by govt over such unloyal practices. Even the consumer courts are also not too consumer-friendly.

So, bottom line is go for BSNL if it suits to your needs. Sify chucks in Hyderabad.

It all depends on the CTO in your area . If he is good Sify is good , If he is bad Sify too is bad

    HAHA,

Who said that SIFY is cheating you all.

Remeber that th einstallation charges which you pay to sify does not go to SIFy. BUT the entire amount goes in your CTOs pocket.

& talking about LINE maintainence charges, then these charges are taken by your CTO & sify is not involved in these charges,

Why are you paying Line maintenance charges. Take a credit card & try to pay via credit card.

    Thaks & Regards,

    @dkarindia.com

as well as the providers in the SN(Delhi) also charge 90 rs. in the connections which costs less than 700Rs. they says that this was the maintanence charge for ur line.....next time if the net got DC than call us we'll tak kare of it u dont have to call to sify...........i guess it was bcoz they get less commison on the low prices connections........

    And many more would follow.
This is the age of competition. And any service provider can only servive through the QoS.
If sify continues withs its unfair means, soon there would be no subscriber left with it to cheat.
