Rep Power: 0 | hi again i hav a sifybroadband connection. it is fine at the end of my subscription(like 2 or 3 days). for the rest of the month the speed just sucks. i have a 256kbps package(package code: ydu 1) before i used to hav another package(package code: jsu 1). the problem is like this for the first 1 or 2 days the speed is fine(like 28KB OR 30Kb, 2 KB OR 4 KB is negligible) but the problem starts after that, for the rest of the month it starts at 13KB and drops off to 1-2KB on http port even when i don't have any other program running in the background which consumes my connection(i have sunbelt kerio firewall so i'll know if any program tries to access the internet) but utorrent get around 32KB but it gets back to normal(on http port) at the end of my subscription. when i complained this to the local cable operator he said maybe it's with the subscription i took so i changed my subscription frm jdu1 to ydu1. but even after that i still have the same problem every single month so i complained this to sify customer care and someone frm their secunderabad technical team comes to my home to check and to find nothing wrong with my pc or the cables(it's kind of strange because just a day before someone frm sify comes the speed goes back to normal but after they leave the same prob comes back) so i suspect my local cable operator is the cause of this problem. maybe my local cable operator steals or limits my bandwidth. the reason why this seems to be happening on http port could be that it is easy to control that port or because they could strip tcp/udp packets of their header and route their requests because http travels in plain text and utorrent runs cypher text. then i hav log ins and log outs at times when i don't login. i tell the sify customer care that my local cable operator could be the cause but they just seem to be ignoring it. does anyone know any I.T or consumer lawyer in secunderabad. can i complaine this to cyber crime cell. |

Rep Power: 10 | Sify is due to launch thier wimax soon and that will take the cable operator out of the equation by the looks of it. I hope sify's wimax adventure turns out to be better then thier infamous cable connection. |

Rep Power: 10 | Wimax prices will be at par with thier cable and adsl counterparts as far as my knowledge is concerned the only difference being the customer premises equipment cost which will be slightly on the higher side of adsl and cable modems. Your sify speed problem... If you have seen log ins and log outs at times when you have not used the pc I have a simple solution for you which may or may not work. If you suspect your cable guy uses your id : change your password second thing to do would be (if you have two computers or a spare lancard) get your second pc's lan cards mac address registered with sify and they only allow two mac addresses per account so your cable guy wont be able to play foul. 3rd thing would be to tell the cable guy that you are going to switch soon so if he puts his business first then he will stop downloading porn using your account. Any one got any other ideas? |

Rep Power: 10 | Do one thing... If you really really believe that you are being cheated. ask if an IT guy can help you out with this.. Go to a cyber cafe keep pinging your ip address and the moment you see some one on the other end bomb the fucker and just hope that he has an AMD in his box and it will just melt to death. That should teach the fucker a good lesson... will be down by a few grands for stealing your bandwidth. |

sify has static ip problem. if there is any download that you make from rapidshare.com or so, then for the next download, you have to wait for the stars to show up. dsl connections have dynamic ip. so there isn't any problem. | |

Rep Power: 10 | dont know what relevancy your remark holds but rapidshare does have premium accounts and if you get one you wont have to wait. |
