Please can anyone tell me a fullproof way to prevent bandwidth stealing by
cable operators or sify users

As far as i know there are many ISP's in india.I hope your areas have some other ISP's too.More the no. of connections in your locality,less the bandwith you get.Suppose sify has given a specific bandwith to a hub at you place and that hub has the different connections of sify.More the no. of user connections,less u have bandwith.

So mostly u never get enough or legal told bandwith.It is on the ISp or local provider hands ur bandwith.we cant unfortunately mess our hands at their places.Because they operate it. But you can complain this to the company and you are eligible for a refund too i suppose if u are not getting enough speed as told.

I guess he means stealing of his quota of bandwidth like if he has 1gb quota and some one using his quota by means of hacking or the cable guy in sify's case.

I would suggest you change your password and also dont just pull the cable but make sure you log off properly from your isp.I have an unlimited connection so I havent really looked into this thing before but I am sure these steps should prevent foul play if any.
