Hi ,
I am Arif and I am sharing my terrible experience with Sify ( installation itself , forget about the service).
I stay in BTM 1st Stage, Bangalore. I was shifting to some other house in same area on 3rd July,2007.
Since internet is extremely critical for me so I wanted to have internet connection from the day 1 in new house. Since I already had BSNL connection so I knew they can’t give me connection within 10-15 days.
24 June I applied for Sify connection , a sales representative came to my house collected a check of Rs 3122 ( 2000 for installation and 1122 for my unlimited plan) . I told him about the criticality of internet connection for me, he assured me saying that “Sir your new house is very close to our point so it will be very easy and anyways the dealer of this area Yusuf khan also stay in next street”
I got call from Sify Dealers on 2nd June, they asked me address of house (again??) .
I gave him the address, installation guy said “but flat is vacant”, I said “no issue give the connection I am moving into that house tomorrow ( 3rd July)”. Guy said “you come tomorrow and I will give you connection within half an hour”. I said “are you sure”, he said yeah sure.
Due to certain reason I could not move into house on 3rd july so I dint call up Sify dealer Yusuf khan.
I was shifting on 7 July, so I called up local sify dealer yusuf on 6th july around 4-5 PM
I asked him to give connection he said if you are shifting tomorrow we will give tomorrow, I said you people says its half an hour job then why don’t you give me today itself. Finally he convinced me that
he will give connection tomorrow.
Now it was 7th July till 12PM , I did not get connection I called up Kabir ( one installation guy, who worked under Sify Local Dealer) , He said “we have a problem one your neibghoor is now allowing to keep switch at his place, so I wont be able to do it today” ( Now look they were saying half an hour job sence a week without a thourigh study of area).
I spoke to my new house owner and got the permission to keep switch( or whatever ) on Tp of our building and then I called up kabir again around ( 1-2 PM) and I said “Boss I solved your problem now at least come and gimme the connection”, he said that he works only on order of local sify dealer khan.
I called up khan and told him the scene, he said yeah he will take care of it.
Till 4-5 PM I got no response no phone call. I tried calling local dealer khan again… he was not picking call in first 4-5 attempt but I kept trying. He finally picked up the call and said iam busy right now I will call you back shortly…. But shortly was too long… till one hour I dint get response… I called him again and I also SMSed him … for SMS I never got any response… he picked up my call around 7-8 PM
And he is in meeting and he will call me back once it is over..
But whole day on 7 July, I never got any call from him nor any reply for SMS
Finally whole day I was un connectected , which my concern, because of which I had applied in advance.
Now next day 8th July ( Sunday) morning 9AM till 2-3 PM I kept calling him(Local sify dealer khan) but he never picked up the call. I totally got frustrated …( I remember last Sunday also , he had not picked up my call, however last Sunday I had tried only 2-3 times)
I SMS on local dealer’s phone and Kabir ( the installation guy) ….saying that “Your service is pathetic …I was suppose to get connection on 2nd July and still its me running behind you to get connection … you have made me cry just in installation …what will happen after I take connection from you…if your service is like this now…how it will be in future…I no more want to get Sify connection please send my check back” ….
Lets assume that local Sify dealer don’t work on Sunday (in Bangalore shutting down the business on weekened wow) , at least Monday they could call up and apologize ( but they never did ) not they sent the check back.
I wrote to Sify support that “I applied for connection on 24 June its 9 July , I still dint get and now I don’t want connection from you, please send me my check back “
I immediately got a call from Mr Rajan B from Sify, he asked me the whole scenario and I explained him the short story written above , he said I will call up our dealer Khan and find out.
He calls me back within 15 min again and said “sir , khan said we can not give you connection” (Now look a that attitude)
I said “even I don’t want, just send me my check back”
After this I also called up Khan and just imagine how lucky I am he picked up my call 
I told him “”this Arif here , when are you sending the check’, he said “we will send your check back very soon” and he cut the line , I SMSed him “could you tell by when you can send the check back, because I know how your very soon works, I saw it during installation process”
I never got any reply or check back from local dealer Khan or from Sify support.

So Guys if you are in Bangalore and if you are planning to take Sify internet connection think thrice.
if you have someone in home who is completely free and can follow up by calling 10-15 times a day …
Please go ahead may be you will be connected soon, but if don’t have that much time and patience ..
Please stay away and go for airtel or BSNL but atleast not for Sify

its devasting to deal with sify i too have a very bad experience with sify,
i feel it has a bunch of bastards sitting in its management and please advice anyone who looks out for broadband not to go for sify at any cost, sify will soon go to hell by its standards.

My sify connection was down since yesterday and I was using a reliance data card in the mean time... it took sify more then 24 hours to get me back online... this 24 hours seem reasonable now as I have had disconnection lasting more thne 10 days before..

Hate sify to bits..

If some sify ass is reading this .... do something about your crappy service or you will vanish from the India broadband market in a few years time as competetion develops.

I am also suffering from since last 1 years eventually looking for other service provider …. It is simply horrible.. Please do not think to opt SIFY SERVICE ever.. Sify Franchises owners are nothing but local goons ……

admin 24 hours is reasonable time but how about 7 days without internet... just wear my shoes now and think.. what should i do...

Chuck sify. But easier said than done because there are no other options.

My BSNL connection has been down since 3-Sep. My only choice are YOU Telecom, Tata Indicom or data cards. Data cards are not good enough and Tata Indicom plans are not at all attractive. I don't trust YOU telecom but some people I know (in Pune) say that they are OK.

Unhappy BB services

To the best of my knowledge Airtel are the only guys who maintain their infrastructure and provide service to some level....BSNL, sify are terrible at service providing ....But even in Airtel, some times service is bad ....like my friend who barely uses his internet got a bill for Rupees 4000 !!a few months back in chennai (was using Airtel)...

If Internet is critical to you like some of us, better use a backup connection like a datacard or dialup even though the speeds are bad you ll atleast be connected to the internet.

Sify is too dependent on the CTOs ,this makes them very unreliable as Indian CTOs are known for their laziness,unproffesionallism towards their job , Terrible manners ......But military punctuality while collecting their payment....

i agree there should be some backup to stay connected otherwise sometimes you miss lot many things just for this, as my internet was not working and there was a important work mail which i was supposed to forward at nite so i called just4kix to forward that and unfortunatley his internet was also not working on sat nite so i went out to a cafe to do that and there was no option as i was supposed to send that mail from my work email and was looking for someone trustworthy.

100% agree here... CTO's or Local Providers are like hell in india they really dont know anything about broadband or tech but behave as they know each and everything, if i talk about my Local Provider then its really funny.. the guy who comes to fix issues at home or you can call him service tech. he is working there for 2500 per month and behaves like an CCNA or network engineer from UK. sometimes he starts talking about rocket science like (sify care) in pure hindi words, and tried to prove me wrong in most of the cases.
one day according to him we were unable to get an reply from gateway coz there is no NIC in my computer which he can install for rupees 500 only. I just asked him that if NIC is not installed on my computer there where is the ethernet cable connected is it on USB port or something so his reply was.... no no it was on dialup port and you are really lucky that it was working on that.. but now you need a new NIC.
confused really is it like that... and m i so lucky

Fully agreed. CTOs are the guys what u just branded them. Very difficult to be dealt with them. They just work on their whims and fancies. These guys conveniently close the tickets without the issue being resolved.

Never ever think about SIFY connection. Please do not pay them, they will take the money, deposit in the great SIFY's account, take commission and run away. Your mobile bill will increase. If you have blood-pressure problem then SIFY is very risky for u. I f u do not have blood pressure problem, it will start the moment u pay to SIFY. keep tablets for headache, uneasyness, anger controlling tablets(if any) with u. I PERSONALLY ADVICE THAT IF U HAVE WEAK HEART, U CAN STAY ALIVE WITHOUT INTERNET, DO NOT GO FOR SIFY EVENTHOUGH IT IS THE ONLY OPTION.

I repeatedly had bad experiences with Sify, bad actually is a very soft word to describe it. Not only that the internet service is bad but the same is true abt its customer care. Had a glimpse of the posts above and thought we should collectively do something to bring such service providers to their knees, pls spread the word, help innocent end users from getting into this prepaid headache, I agree totally that one has to keep their blood pressure pills handy, this service is not for the weak hearted one might actually die reaching and heights of frustration. Alternatively by
1. Trying to reach customer care
2. Yelling at customer care
3. Repeated problems

Can't put my experiences into words, not worth the time for Sify, in short I would like to highlight....
Don't don't ever use it, spread the word, keep status messages, mass mail, let everyone know, we deserve value for our hard earned money, please do your bit in spread this feedback. thanks...

i understand your experiences with sify ... why dont you go to the consumer court? or you can also lodge a mass petition against them along with some other users .. check this ... u will get more details here - http://www.consumercomplaints.in/com...on-c30420.html
