    Default Sify + Netgear Nightmare!!

    Hi everyone,

I have been trying to set up the netgear WGR614 router on sify and cannot get past the bb-101 error.

I have been through all the tips on this forum but I am not even able to get past the MAC address issue i.e. something's missing in my configuration for which I don't even reach the "MAC address not registered" error.

Can someone help me configure the router please

It will be greatly appreciated. I have tried everything and nothing works. I have configured with login and without login (to provide the MAC address). When I try to login using sify client all I keep getting is the bb-101 error.

    PLEASE HELP!

Exclamation Easy sify setup On Netgear!!

I hope this is help to everyone.
Being a user of Sify BB and a proud owner of Netgear WGR614 its obvious to face issues.

    Setup like this:
(Always remember, to configure LAN card settings to obtain the ip address and DNS automatically.if you don't follow, you don't succeed)

    1.Don't use the netgear disc.
2.Attach the router but don't insert the LAN cable into it.
3.Plug one end of the yellow cable(provided) to any of the 4 ports of the router and plug the other end to the LAN card.
4.Open 192.168.1.1 (remember, if you can't open it,hard reset the router by pressing the small button on the back of the router)
5.Now enter id as "admin" and the password as "password" .

6.You're now on the router settings page.

    7.Now click on BASIC SETTINGS.

8.Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login? : NO (as in my case)

9.Enter IP adress and DNS as provided to you by sify.

10.Router MAC Address : Use Default Address

    11. click apply and insert the lan cable into the router.

12.wait for 2 mins and then try logging in using the sify BB client. you should be able to log on.

    13. if you get error 534 : call customer care and ask them to register the new MAC id.

14.Now to access the same connection on your laptop,log-on to your network, open internet explorer and you should be able to do it.:rockon:

    Default

Sify wires are sub standard, and if you connect them to a router, then it can damage the router, so avoid putting the sify cable into the router. If it can harm the router it can also harm the computer I suppose.

Default Keep the posts relevant here please.

    Princess,
I was just trying to tell how to setup sify on netgear.
Even i know sify cables are substandard but your post has got nothing to do with connecting wirelessly.
If you don't want to connect the cable to router then just dream of being online wirelessly.
    Keep the posts relevant please.
    Rest all depends on you.
