Rep Power: 0 | Couple months ago I had setup a Linksys wireless router WRT54G after much struggle. Last week we had problems with our Sify Broadband service and the first thing the jackass from their customer service did was to disconnect our router. Since then I've been struggling setting up the router. I first spent a few days trying to set up the Linksys router, with no avail. Then I bought a new Netgear router and have the same problem. I'm able to setup the router and able to see the LAN up, but at the last point both routers just say "No Internet Connection". Other details: - Internet works okay when I bypass the router - I'm in Chennai - I tried cloning the PC MAC address to the router - There's no modem in our house, so I'm not able to follow the instruction to restart the modem - Sify has a router in our building and I tried switching it off and then on again - I've tried almost everything that's there to try to make this work, but it just doesn't Does anyone know if Sify has a setting on their side to disallow routers? Any other pointers to make it work? Thanks |

Rep Power: 12 | you need to plug in the sify cable into the router you have got.. switch it on and then call sify and ask them to register the mac address for you.. wait for an hour or so and then try again and it should work if everything else is ok. Do let us know if there is still a problem. |

Rep Power: 0 | Asking Sify to bind my router MAC address didn't work. Since the signal doesn't reach Sify, they aren't able to bind with the user account. |

Rep Power: 0 | They need to have the MAC address of the network card (wired or wireless) that connects to the router on the PC that has the Sify client. If you know what MAC is registered you can clone the MAC on the correct card. Last edited by Admin; 01-08-08 at 07:34 AM. |
