Thread: what 128kbps means? Can anybody explain me ?

Hi Frnds,
Presently I m in mumbai, andheri(east) and I am looking for an unlimited plan with good service , and as per discussion given in this forum I found AIRTEL as a best.(It cost around Rs700 per month)

But I want to know what actually 128kbps means( what will be the downloading speed and what will be the uploading speed?)

And one more question can I use my two(2) laptops with a single broadband connection?

can anybody helps me in this?It will be really appricated.

128 kbps is the maximum speed you get when you choose that plan. It is not actually braodband. THe real broadband is 256 kbps and above. If you are choosing 128 kbps, you will be getting around 60 kbps on real time which will be rather slow for you, it will be okay for regular browsing but if you plan to download more, you need to go for higher kbps.

(THIS IS MY FIRST REPLY IN FORUMs) Actually......128kbps is not the actual speed.......if u divide it by 8.......ur actually speed must be 16kbps..........and and to take out ur upload speed......u must divide 16 with 0.8.........ur upload speed must be........20kbps

the KbPS means
Kilo Bits Per Second
128 KbPS means
128 Kilo Bits Per second
i.e.
128000 bits per second
and you download speed is measured in "Kilo Bytes"
1 Byte=8 bits
hence your download speed = netspeed/8
i.e. in ur case
128/8= 16 KB per second
and 32KB for 256

i think networking using router and hub may help you for the using same for 2 PCs
