What made you think kaspersky was slowing down... do you mean its taking longer time to scan or its using more resources or just that your computer is slow ?

when the computer starts firstly it takes much time to load the programs(printer, sound car to load the programs(printer, sound card etc) and when i run a setup it takes 1 or 2 minutes to began.I have disabled protective defence but then also the same.

and is avast home edition the best in free antivirus.I need a free antivirus too.:36:

Try avira or avast anti-virus , they are free and good. I am not recommending avg coz they had as many as 3 problems in last 2 months.

Commodo is a good free firewall option.

I have never used Kaspersky. So don't know which one is good. But Avast Home edition is a the best freeware Antivirus. I have Avast installed in my 1 GB RAM PC and have never experienced slow downs. Once you install it you only need to worry about updating it. You don't even need to Virus scan every week/month either (unless you have doubts). I also have Zone Alarm Free firewall installed.

Ur harddisk might be messed up... try to defragment it... use diskeeper.. it automatically does the task... and keeps the system performance optimum!

I use BitDefender. Its pretty good according to me and most of the reviews read praises it too. If you have 512 MB of ram I dont think you will notice any Lag.

If you want light weight AV then you can try AVAST (its free). Or Eset Internet Security. But you wrote you have 1GB ram so BitDefender is worth a try. Please note that may increase the time to log in to windows and start up by 30-60 secs but once logged in the rest is fine. It also has whats called " GAME MODE ". Which uses low resources when you run heavy application (such as Games).

= data loss = tension = foul mood = angry girlfriend = separation = watching "40 year old virgin" alone = mental depression = suicide attempt.

Now, you can avoid all this. Just buy/get a good antivirus. Always remember, behind every successful relationship, there is a standard antivirus.
