Default Increase your browsing speed while saving bandwidth

    Free Web Accelerator

Web acclerator is a s/w which techncially reduces the b/w required for transferring data over net, in the process speeding up internet access.Since many of us are facing a temporary slowdown in internet connections, such a s/w may come handy.

    Get more info in wikipedia

You can get FREE 1 Year subscription to On-Speed web accelerator here :

    http://www.yuvayantra.com/

IMPORTANT : Some people claim that their antivirus detects a virus in that website(check here (Free Original Kapersky Antivirus) ) while some, including me didn't get any warnings. So the entire responsiblity of using the site lies with YOU. If are unsure wat to do , u are better off NOT using it.

    How to get it :

    1. register with your correct email id over there.
    2. login
    3. click on "ONSPEED Premium Web Accelerator Free "
    4. Follow and complete instruction
    5. D/l & install s/w and use the login info of the website to register the s/w.

Some other points to be considered :

    1. 5x speedup for broadband connections. If you visit websites containing more graphics/multimedia/video etc u may not notice much diffrence

    2. Websites like this may load 15x faster coz of high text content.

    3. Since their server seems to be using Indian ISP its possible that service may be better than similar s/w

    4. Best reason of all - you save a lot of monthly bandwidth, so you can browse/download more.

    As quoted from their website...
    What gets accelerated?

Onspeed Premium Web Accelerator compresses the following elements of web pages and email in order to send the information to your computer faster:
Web pages - HTML markup and JavaScript
Graphics including JPEG and GIF images
    Passive FTP
E-mail - SMTP, POP, IMAP (including file attachments!)

    What will not be accelerated?

Although Onspeed Premium Web accelerator is able to compress many different types of online data, there are a few which cannot be accelerated:
Streaming media, audio and video files
Secure pages, such as those used for online banking and credit card forms

    How does it work?

With traditional dial-up methods, the text and graphics that make up web pages get sent from the server to you over your phone line. Because of the large amount of data required to be sent, this process can be painfully slow.

As an added download time reducer, Onspeed Premium Web Accelerator stores elements of the web sites you visit frequently eliminating the need to re-download them every time you visit these sites.
Find more info abt On Speed Web Acc here.

    Screenshots :

Its better to turn off image compression if you are concerned about visual quality of website.( By default its ON)

    Additional Acceleration

    Happy Browsing

PS: If its working for you , post your results too

Arre No yaar ..... Pl pls don't think like that :surrender:hmy::sad::sweatdrop::48:

But its my responsiblity to inform others as well don't you think ?

Mean if some guy who does'nt know much abt computer stuff and gets infected i'd feel guity.

But this forum has many intelligent users ( US ) who may want to use such s/w inspite of a possible threat. I meant for them to use this.

Once again : Pls understand i never meant to hurt you at all, it was a warning to users , as you had meant it to be , in the original post. And i'm not being sarcastic here . Hope you understand.

Anyways i'm far tooo lazy and far tooo forgetfull to remember to be angry or remember such incidents

Yup, coz i mostly browse thru forums which are primarily text based, so your actual speed will depend on which kind of sites you visit.

    Hey man!

    What about this Ziproxy?
I haven't heard much about it...
Just know that it is free, and has most (or all) of the features of Onspeed.
If you know about it, please give your opinion....
I would like to hear about this....

I had never tried these web accelerators and all.

Never heard about it untill u mentioned it.

Currently it is known to be usable under the following OSes: Linux (Red Hat, Conectiva, Debian), FreeBSD and Cygwin (there were reports on Mac OS X and Solaris compatibility aswell).
It ran successfully under the following architectures: x86, x86-64 and SPARC32.
It does not run on windows man, and i'm a newbie to linux. If somebody can tell me how to iinstall perhaps i can try.

    I have installed this dude.
But, I'm having some problems with some sites.
Some header images of some sites are not loading, and I'm also having problem with Gmail.
But, I should say that the browsing speed has actually increased significantly.

I have used this web accelerator or a similar s/w like this with Tata Indicom USB modem... Its good for what speed we get on USB modem or dial-up... or if somebody wants to control his usage... Only compromise is quality of images on websites!

I think it might be the same as this proxy is enabled by tata-vsnl, and the
s/w is same as wat they provide for their users.

You are right about the image quality factor (see post 6 of this thread), but if you wish u can disable it altogether ( settings > image quality = original)
