Default Rumored Prices of Windows 7 editions

Earlier this day a major technology blog had come up with a cooked up story regarding the various prices of the Windows 7 editions which are yet to be released. The Starter edition will be costing $199, Home Premium and Professional editions will be available for $259 and $299 respectively. The Ultimate edition will cost nearly $319. As it can be seen from the pricing details Windows Vista Home Basic and the Starter edition fall in the same price bracket.

Windows 7 release data is confirmed to be somewhere around Oct-Nov 2009

seems to early to predict prices. prices will definitely be high initially. i fear laptop brands like dell promoting windows 7 after its launch and thus increase their prices like they do in case of windows vista ....

Blogs are personal webspaces. You should never believe anything and everything from blogs. There could be some truth on blogs - I won't deny it - but all the same, you should never jump to conclusions.

MS has been following two policies for retail pricing - new sales and upgrades. Upgrades are priced $80~100 less than the retail price. I have no reason to suspect that the pricing policy or the pricing itself will differ greatly.

And I am really surprised to find that the community in general is worried about the prices. In my survey, amongst the individual users, hardly anyone buys genuine OS (open source excluded). This is the case even on this forum. Those people who have genuine Windows, have it only because they purchased branded machines that came pre-loaded with the OS.

i think it was a fake one coz it was posted on 5th of feb and still there is no comment

and also that guy mentioned this thing clearly
Warning: this information came to me via an anonymous tip and is not from a trusted source of mine. That aside, the reason I'm putting this in the rumor box for now is that there is pricing for Windows 7 Starter, which we know will be sold worldwide, but only via OEMs
