Mozilla, Firefox users told to update to be safe online

When was the last time someone told you that Firefox is the safest way to browse the web? Now, Mozilla Foundation is advising the users to upgrade to the latest released version to stay safe, as the earlier versions might just not be safe enough.

As per security agency Secunia, 3 out of 29 Secunia advisories are still unpatched in the latest stable release of this web browser. Even the Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) has now said that earlier versions of Firefox and other Mozilla software based on older Firefox code are open to attack.

The latest Firefox release came out last week and it’s the version 1.5.0.2. Mozilla had said that this release was mainly to fix security glitches. Although, the general idea is that Mozilla Firefox is generally more secure than the popular Internet Explorer web browser, this is thought to be the first time that multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Firefox and the Mozilla suite.
