As per the IRC Chat forums on firefox, for someone using 512 kbps or higher speed, FF 3.5 would not reflect any significant speed difference. For lower speed connections the variation would become noticable.

hmmm interesting news... so this goes for all other browsers as well ?

btw i think speed also takes into account startup time, memory etc, which are independant of the internet speed

i dnt know about the page rendering speeds, but the thing is taking a whole minute to become operational after switching on the comp for the first time on my P4 2.8 2GB RAM system! The previous version used to take 15 secs max. I don't know what the hell to do... maybe i'l go back to that version again, but feeling unsure for the security updates,

i've just downgraded to 3.0.11... feeling a lot better now. will just give the new one another shot after a couple o months when it comes out with bug fixes.

I got it but hated it...Why did they copy the tab system from IE8???

I'll stick to 3.0.11 for the time being.

Sorry for posting this in Firefox thread, but: Try out the new Opera 10 beta.

One of best Browsers I have ever come across. It is faster and lighter than previous opera versions + many new features.

you can get it from AdSweep - An ad blocker for your favorite web browser (like Adblock) for opera. also some other site mentioned in the same website has a list of blockled URL too.

dunno wat u mean by script blocking. the only one i remember is that u can tell it to stop executing scripts (one instance or continously for the site or for all sites)

Workaround for Firefox 3.5 slow startups on Windows
July 8, 2009 - 11:34 pm

If you find yourself with very long startup times after upgrading to Firefox 3.5 (from say 10 seconds to the order of minutes), you may be experimenting a bug due to a change in how Firefox 3.5 gets the randomness it needs for security purposes on Windows.

The procedure involves scanning some temporary folders looking for bits normally added by OS and other applications operations. Firefox 3.5 looks for more files and deeper (more subfolders) for increased randomness, but it has led to unexpected results for users with too many temporary folders or files resulting in slow startups.

Try builds are still being generated with fixes to this bug, but users report a noticeable improvement after deleting their temporary folders and Internet Temporary Files (generated by Internet Explorer).

To clean temporary folders, check and delete all files [you can, some may be in use] from these:
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\My Recent Documents
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Temp\

Windows Vista /7 users, replace Documents and Settings with Users

To delete Internet Temporary Folders, in the Control Panel., open Internet Options. In the Browsing History section, press the Delete… button, check all the options and press Delete.

Users report a significant improvement after doing this, even those who use Internet Explorer once in a while.

A fix to this bug should become available with Firefox 3.5.1, expected in a few weeks.
