Confirmed news is that Sony is providing FREE upgrade from Vista to Win 7 for its VAIO Notebooks/Desktops purchased in 2009.

I have no idea about others. But I guess they will follow too.

Yet to hear such kind of offer from Microsoft.

its valid only for vista which were/are being sold with such an offer. ie not all vista's can be upgraded for free.

M$ did announce such an offer, but i don't think its there in India. prolly it will be through OEM's / PC suppliers

That means - "Customers must purchase PCs between July 2009 and Jan. 1, 2010, and will be eligible to receive upgrades through next March 31."

I'm sorry to hear that... But I guess Microsoft is providing upgrade to Win 7 from Vista at a discounted price... Read that article carefully... Its one time investment... But worth it! Vista is horrible...

I am happy with vista. And moreover I don't wanna cough up any sum for any other OS. All the application that I need runs smoothly without any hiccups. Never tried to test it vigorously. I tried running Eclipse,Oracle server and an application server simultaneously and it didnt disappoint me.
