I'm using GOM player as of one, It doesn't many formats out-of-the-box. The only reason I using is coz I don't have modify the keyboard shortcuts in VLC everytime I re-install.

I like the DVD like playback function (replay 10s back from where the the video was stopped) and then the auto-add similar files to list.

Are these features available in VLC ? I've neva bothered to check...

Even i was a VLC fan. But like i mentioned i could play the 3gpp files but without the audio. Hence installed k-lite codec pack and since then never bothered to check about alternative media players..

Even with codec pack, i still have to use the shortcut features emmebeded within WMP right (FYI i'm still wid WMP 9), it not that good na ?

... next i've heard that codec packs generally make the system slower coz many files are installed and loaded , most unnecessary though. I dunno if its true, thats why I use either VLC or GOM.

And its good that VLC has a portable version.

U can always select the codecs to be installed in your machine (although i admit that the list is extensive)..

I am not able to play .rm files in VLC Media Player. I also tried installing Codec Packs, but didn't work. Is there anyway to fix this ?

vlc also installs codecs while installation ... and better stop using wmp9 .. wmp classic with xp codec pack rocks .. equivalent to vlc ... but lot more keyboard controls and customization features than vlc

I have real alternative installed with the codec pack (K-Lite Mega Codec Pack). I can open .rm files in Media Player Classic and GOM Player after installing the codec pack. But VLC Media Player is still not opening .rm files.

Back to GOM Player again. Now I only use VLC Media Player to play big .avi video files that causes problems in other players.

Yes, it does. You can also use external codecs packs like K-Lite with it.

    Thumbs up

    I have shifted to
K-lite mega codec pack+media player classic in windows to watch videos

    and

Totem Movie player in Linux to watch movies

    and

    Amarok player for songs

    totally foolproof

I use Nero Showtime for most of my videos. It has time scroll. Scroll your wheel and it is equal to forward or reverse 20 sec according to the direction. For incompatible formats I use VLC. Never found anything better.

for audio purposes i use MediaMonkey and Foobar2000 ... Very good music players and managers.

Arrow What media player do you use?

What media player do you use to play music on your PC?

    Please share your experiences.

    To start things off:

I use Winamp mainly because of its media library and playlist features.
