Software giant Microsoft has said that they have officially launched their online business software Office Live in their home market of United States.

This would be followed with release of test versions in Europe and Japan next week.

Microsoft is offering a free “Basics” version for small businesses. An upgraded “Essentials” package is on offer at USD 19.95 per month. The company is also providing a “Premium” version for 39.95 dollars a month.

The beta versions would soon be available in France, Britain, Germany, and Japan.

Microsoft has said that this new range of online productivity tools would help the consumers create websites, attract customers and manage their affairs. Microsoft vice president Rajesh Jha said in a statement: “Most small businesses lack IT expertise. Office Live is a one-stop shop that levels the playing field for companies with 10 or fewer employees by providing software and services that make a big difference.”

Microsoft has also teamed up with Toshiba and Sony. These two PC manufacturers would put Internet links to Office Live on notebook computers and laptops beginning next year.
