Search engine giant Google has confirmed that they have hired iRows founders Yoah Bar-David and Itai Raz. They would now be working for the company at their Tel Aviv and Haifa research and development centers.

The iRows added in a blog post that they would shut down the operations of iRows on December 31 this year.

These hiring are expected to help Google enhance the capabilities of their Google Spreadsheet web based application which helps the web users to create and manage spreadsheets using just a web browser.

Google Spreadsheet itself is based on their acquired 2Web Technologies.

iRows added that after their operations are shut down at the end of the year, all data from user spreadsheets would be deleted. They are however providing ways to help their users transport their spreadsheets to Google Spreadsheets.

But, there are some problems with this transition. Users will not be able to transport files containing chart data properly considering Google Spreadsheets has no support for this feature currently. They would also be required to sign up for a Google account to make this transition.
