Thread: Microsoft set to patch 17 year old vulnerability

Microsoft is finally going to resolve the 17 year old vulnerability affecting all 32 bit windows OS including windows 7. It will be delivered as a part of the next patch Tuesday updates.

Including this update, Microsoft has planned to release a total of 13 updates including those which are meant for Microsoft office which are meant to fix a total of 26 vulnerabilities. Most of these are those which patch important vulnerabilities.

Of these windows 7 has 5 updates – 3 critical and 2 important, windows vista has a total of 6 with 3 critical and 3 important, and windows xp will have 5 critical updates.

There will be 2 updates for office, but those are meant for earlier version of office, ie office 2007 is not affected.

Sometime patching are bad for security also according to many experts as they can bring some new problems. Also its better to upgrade or remade then patch. Many experts like Deven Shah , regard patching as bad practice.
