Intel is on the road to bring out the next generation of processors with 6 to 8 cores, which will offer tremendous performance for those seeking it.

The hexacore processor code named “gulftown” is said to use the latest technology produced at size of 32nm architecture based on the westmere architecture, a shrink from the current generation of 45nm process. The processor features 12MB of L3 cache.

The cpu is said to be able to support new features such as dynamic power reduction for DDR memory , low-voltage DDR3 memory. It also features present in previous generations like turbo boost, hyper threading , encryption and 3 channels of DDR3.

The octocore processors featuring 8 cores is called as Nehalem EX. Both the processors are to be launched in first half of 2010.
