Default Symantec launches security products for the Vista operating system

Security software maker Symantec has released public betas of Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus for Windows Vista.

These beta versions are compatible with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Vista. Microsoft is scheduled to launch Vista to their business customers tomorrow.

Symantec’s beta applications are however targeted at the casual users who would get access to Vista OS early next year.

The company said that the Norton Internet Security application is designed to protect end users against a range of online threats, including adware, hacking, phishing, and spyware in addition to virus attacks and worms.

It also protects the customers from malicious code that promotes financial crimes such as identity theft. These kinds of security threats are becoming more popular especially on the web.

Norton AntiVirus for Vista in comparison is feature limited edition and protects the computer against virus attacks only. The final versions of these two applications should be out around the same time Vista is made available for sale in the retail market. Symantec ensures that their customers would have stable version of security applications by the time they get their hands on the release version of Windows Vista.
