Rep Power: 3 | Turbolinux is a major Linux vendor in the Japanese market and the company has said that they would be launching a Linux booting device similar to iPod like digital music players. This player would use flash memory and it would work as a USB device capable of running Linux on a personal computer. Users would be able to boot into Linux OS using this device and access its various functions like web browser and email client. Koichi Yano, president and CEO of Turbolinux spoke about Wizpy: “Imagine how convenient it would be if you could carry around your own PC environment in your pocket.” The device would come with 4-gigabyte flash memory and around 1.5 gigabyte would be used for Linux OS and other applications. Masayuki Morikage, director of Turbolinux’s Business Propulsion Department added about this device: “Wizpy seeks to promote Linux with these devices, but I believe that Wizpy can boot Linux on a much wider range of PCs through its emulated USB CD-ROM.” |
