Thread: British Government To Dump IE 6 ?

A petition has appeared in Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The petition signed by around 3,700 people urges the British government to dump Internet explorer 6 due to security concerns. Germany recently issued a warning to its citizens to dump Internet explorer and use Firefox. This has caused a spike in Firefox downloading graph. The petitioners seek the Gordon Brown to encourage government departments to upgrade from Internet Explorer6. All these issue popped up due to Google’s worry in China. There were reports that Gmail accounts were compromised due a flaw in Internet explorer 6. Google threatened to stop its service in China. The accounts compromised were than of human right activist and China had to take the blame for this hacking attempt.

Actually IE 6 is bad in all aspects but I do not understand why the people are using it???? And also because IE 8 is out.............

This is very bad. People are still running IE6. That browser of the adams days. Govt should also ban use of Ie6 and revert all internet users to firefox.

IE6 should be negotiated because of it hurts many web developers like me, and getting mad in projects for the compatibility problem. Why people still using this mad browser..? not having any intelligence in browsing.. today also IE6 made me an headache and am late for 3hrs from the office..

The reason is that they are using Windows NT in the Institutes and Universities because it boots very fast in there slow computers.
