    Default Firefox based OS

Taking inspiration from Google’s chrome operating system based on its browser, chrome another company has used Firefox as base to create another OS. Named xpud , the os uses the firefox v3.5 as its base and comes with an installer size of just 64 MB.

The os works comfortably on older computers with a requirement of just 256 MB ram. It features site specific browser for Facebook and some other websites. This tab is isolated from the other parts so that a crash in any tabs of any those sites don’t affect others.

It also has dropbox support for synchronizing data. The applications are minimal though it has applications for the most necessary functions and available in the form of packages and installation is a breeze – the downloaded package is placed in ./opt folder and can be loaded from next startup !

It can be run using an live cd , virtual disk or even using a simple pen drive.
