In an effort to curb software piracy in Africa, where it is estimated that about 80% of all software installations are of pirated editions. The office 2007 students and teachers edition comes with a price tag of about $53 which is equivalent to about 4k Kenyan shilling.

The product, announced at a discounted price, is primarily designed to discourage piracy and make the software affordable to the end users. As an additional benefit, the users will be able to install the software on 3 different computers. It is not known yet if this offer will also be extended to Microsoft’s latest in development product – office 2010, which is expected to be available in June , this year.

The office student and teachers edition will include word 2007, PowerPoint 2007,excel 2007 and one note 2007.
