Microsoft has just released a service update for SQL Azure, its web dependant remote database, and more are to be expected in the forthcoming days. This comes within a few weeks of Microsoft officially releasing the software, ie GA.

According to the company it has used the user feedback to incorporate changes, bug fixes to the latest release. Also it includes a few new features like ability to change editions, troubleshooting DMVs and increase in the idle period for a session to timeout, and also for transactions.

With the new release the customers will be able to use the platform to monitor the health of the databases and retrieve the state information using the DMVs for monitoring databases, improving performance and to also help deduce any problems. The idle time out has conveniently been increased to 30 minutes instead of the earlier 5 minutes.
