The latest version of internet explorer which is currently in development and expected to be released soon, may include support for SVG (scalable vector graphics) as announced by Microsoft earlier this year.
It is kind of ironic because the same company had in past been accused of trying to kill the format, has now become a part of the SVG Working Group which in itself is a part of the World Wide Web Consortium which decides the standards for web browsers.
The speculation is that the next / upcoming version of internet explorer might support that. The inclusion would mean that superior graphics can be delivered with low data overhead. Also combined with HTML 5, it could be a rich standard for developers and also it could mean a significant advantage for internet explorer which is fast losing ground.
