Thumbs up Norton AntiVirus 2010 - Review

Symantec's efforts to get it's place back into the list of the top anti-virus suites is visible from the developments in it's latest version of anti-virus. It seemed to have been listening to the needs of the users, while releasing it's new version.

    Pros

1.Norton AntiVirus 2010 has introduced a new behavioral detection engine called Quorum.
2.Many dramatic improvements to the Norton AntiVirus over the past one to two years indicate it's struggle to regain it's old pride.
3.It seems to be quite quicker than it's older versions and relative improvement in performance has also added to it's plus points. It uses lesser systme resources.
4.The installation process of the new version of Norton AntiVirus is pretty quicker than the old versions and requires to be appreciated for it's improvements in this matter.
5.Pretty reasonable price, though a bit high for just an anti-virus.

    Cons

1.Leaves your computer completely unprotected by 'turning off' itself, when the subscription period expires.
2.Some users seemed to have problem uninstalling the software.
3.Has lots of areas where the scope of improvement is great. With a little more care and work, Symantec can bring up Norton AntiVirus to be better anti-virus software from where it had once fallen down.

    Cons :

    High on resources.

No advanced options for expert users.

Firewall not up to the mark.

Was using it. A virus was downloading in the background and it showed no sign of detection. Nor there is any option to find which program is accessing net. Removed it without hesitation.

    Pro :

    Best suite for beginners .

The most worst thing I get to know about Norton is that it`s Firewall is so powerfull that even in torrent downloads when a peer upload the infected file to us (that is normal) then it disconnects to that IP means block that IP and thus makes torrent downloads slow.

For uninstalling Norton Security products you would have to use the Norton Removal Tool.

I use Revo Uninstaller, but it doesn't work for Norton(even in hunter mode),because after uninstalling Norton 360(subscription) with Revo and installing the new Norton 360 (subscription),it says Norton 360 is still installed and will not install.

So I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool and it removed the Norton 360 completely.

Revo will work for all other software's except Norton.I have tried it.
